  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Wrong. It's not a transcript. Read the memorandum at the bottom of the first page of the document.

This phone call was 30 minutes. This "transcript" is not even 6 pages, including header and preface. You are 100% out to lunch if you think more won't come out.

The whole thing's really bizarre anyway. The opposition political party's Congressional spokesmen have made clear, many times, that they can impeach for any reason they choose. There have already been articles of impeachment introduced in the House of Representatives by a member who openly says that impeachment is in order because they don't like the president, that's all.

Now that they have hit on a new gimmick (Ukraine), nothing actually changes, but we will go on talking here as though there are legitimate reasons for impeachment--or not--as each poster wants to argue it.

"There's a lot of talk about Biden's son, that Biden stopped the prosecution and a lot of people want to find out about that so whatever you can do with the Attorney General would be great. Biden went around bragging that he stopped the prosecution so if you can look into it... It sounds horrible to me."

Transcript: Trump’s Call With the Ukrainian President

Dear Senator McSally,
I hope you value our republic and Constitutional powers invested in the Congress to act as a check on the executive branch.....

This is a shakedown.
Trump's arguments:
  1. We do a lot for Ukraine.
  2. There isn't much reciprocity.
  3. Investigate Biden.
  4. Talk to my personal lawyer about it.
  5. Bonus: can Ukraine give me Hillary Clinton's server?

Immediately after the Ukrainian President says they want to buy more weapons, Trump says “I want you to do us a favor though” and asks them to investigate his enemies. If Trump thought this somehow exonerated him, he’s clearly off his meds.

Listen to this about the Ukraine problem. Hillary and Obama have been guilty of the same and they were not impeached The Ben Shapiro Show.
Just because the Republicans failed to impeach if and when they should have doesn’t mean the Democrats shouldn’t move forward with theirs.

In the WH's talking points memo, they say that Zelenskyy was the first to mention Giuliani (why would he?), but that's not how it happens in these released notes.

Donald also refers to the notoriously corrupt prosecutor as "a very good prosecutor" who was taken down by "very bad people".

Yes it is. Trump talks about the AG and Robert Mueller and then Zelenskyy mentions one of his assistants speaking with Giuliani.

That's a strong tell. In semantics good and bad reverse because of two opposing perspectives. What Trump thinks of Shokin, good/bad, could reveal which side of the political war in Ukraine he is on Russia/Europe. But he also could just be uninformed.

The congress won't impeach Trump, it's a numbers game after all. The Republicans are not going to support an impeachment because they will forfeit their chances in the next election.
If the impeachment process causes the courts to end the Whitehouse and DOJ stonewalling of all the investigations, it might make a difference. But his base is probably going to stick with him no matter how bad the evidence is against him. Even now they don't care that he violates campaign laws by asking that Ukraine investigate his opponent. Nonetheless, at least there is some check happening against lawlessness by some in congress who care about Democracy. Ultimately America will get what she votes for.

I see that the latest jargon ordered up by the DNC has been put to use already.

Who remembers some of the other ones--"millionaires and billionaires," "climate of corruption," and "Koch Brothers," for example. Everybody but everybody seemed to be using them for awhile as they were supposed to, but then the new one came along and poof, they were history.

Are you talking about Trump's investigation into Biden?

Zelensky said that one of his aides had been talking to giuliani. And it's in the context of investigating political opponents of the president. Obviously, there's already been discussion through Giuliani concerning this matter prior to the phone call. Giuliani indicated the same in his many interviews on various news networks.

I agree.

They would not impeach Clinton.

They will not impeach Trump.

America may vote Trump out but by default but they will get Biden as punishment. I don't see any real difference between these two people, both are deeply corrupt.
