OK. People with moral authority should be able to criticize actions of other countries. As Jesus said, let him who is without sin cast the first stone.
That's the topic. They're wrong. We are more wrong.

I sense something very spiritually dark in this thread. The extreme hatred of anything related to Trump overrules everything, no matter what. This is evidenced by our apparent inability to agree that murdering people and calling for the murder of people is wrong. And the reason that we cannot agree about this is because Trump is the one who said it.
As some clarification I agree that calling for murder is wrong but I think Trump is only discussing it for selfish reasons.
I might be wrong about this , I have done some pretty stupids thing before but I really doubt it.
And this is not due to me being brainwashed by "the left" if I am wrong it is all my own fault.
I would not trouble me if the republican won 2/3 of the senate and change birthright citizenship
but to me it is very clear Trump just trying to manipulate people.

Calling for others to be murdered isn't hate speech?
That's why I said it was controversial. I haven't read the court ruling, so I don't know why they made their decision, but it may have something to do with the historical significance of the song.

It dates from the apartheid era, where the words had a lot more meaning, but is possibly now one of those songs with questionable lyrics which is sung without people registering what they're actually singing. Does that make it an inappropriate song? Absolutely, but the case for hate speech appears to be harder to make, judging by the conclusion reached by some of the top legal minds in the country.

And it should be pointed out that the politician singing the song is Julius Malema, a hothead who is often not looked upon all that favourably and who has made a career out of being disruptive, sometimes seemingly for the sake of being disruptive. His views don't reflect those of the majority of South Africans, and certainly not those of the South African government.

The disagreement isn't because Trump said it. The "white genocide" narrative was being pushed long before Trump got hold of it. It was incorrect then, and it's still incorrect now. If Biden had criticised the South African government in the same way and offered white South Africans refugee when there are other groups of people who are in far more need of it then he would have needed to be taken to task just like it's being done to Trump.

As a South African living in SA, the situation is not as simple. People of all races are murdered and killed, its not genocide. There are different parties in government all with different political ideologies. The media has definitely blown things out of proportion. There are some white farmers who are wanting to leave and others who are quite content with staying. Most are just praying for a better and peaceful country.

This is just the same as when he humiliated Zelensky. Acting like this towards other country leaders is nothing but a stunt to distract from the problems at home.

What does Trump have to gain by lying about South Africa?
To score points. To be seen as the winner. That is what drives him. That’s all he ever does.

How is the political party chanting "kill xyz" in their meetings still legally allowed and even the third largest in the parliament?

Why is it not ruled by a court as unconstitutional?

It was taken to court, and the defence was that the lyrics weren't meant to be taken literally. The court ruled that there was no reason not to believe that.

That comes across as some very good lawyers getting him off on a technicality.

Secondly, it appears that the murder rate of black South African farmers/small holders and farm workers is either not substantially different, or potentially slightly higher, than the rate of murder suffered by their white South African counterparts.
I hardly think the number of black people being killed is important here.

It looked like 100,000 people in that stadium screaming wildly for the murder of white people.
White farmers. Not all of white people. And who doesn’t dislike farmers?

Genocide is defined as the intentional and systematic destruction of a group of people based on their national, ethnic, racial, or religious identity.
Since when is ‘farmer’ on that list?

As the previous poster said, it is not meant to be taken literally. Also expression through song and dance is big part of Black culture. In addition their is a lot of history that stems from the apartheid years, that hasn't been resolved. There are structures that still cater to a certain group of people only. Its the underlying issues...that haven't been addressed. None of it should warrant killing... But killing has been happening regardless of race.

Also for some groups another White man coming and attempting to play the hero doesn't sit well either. It just complicates the situation further.

It is relative to the claim that *white* farmers are being targeted if the murder rate of farmers is consistent with it being the same for all racial groups. (As noted, the data is messy and incomplete.)

Spiritual darkness is voting to continue billionaire tax cuts while denying millions medical care and basic nutrition.
People who agree with these policies are the ones living in spiritual darkness.

There is one place for sure in the world where everyone knows genocide is taking place.
Is Trump offering them refugee status?
Trump does not care about genocide.
The fact that there are 4.5 million white South Afrikaners, and exactly 59 took Trump up on his offer tells you what you need to know.
Not even enough to fill half of the plane.
If Trump offered that to genocide experiencing Palestinians, how full would that plane be?
