  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Ive been attending a Presbyterian Church this last year, while im at University. The Martime Presbyterians tend to be quite Evangelical. Seeing as there different Presbyterians all over the world i was wondering what category your Churcvh fell under.

PC(USA) liberal, apostate, worth the effort to save it. We are commanded to evangelize. Why not start in our individual churches? Become an Elder. Fight the false teachings of the liberal majority at the grass roots level.

My church is also Baptist (and Reformed), so I didn't vote either.

Question: precisely how can one be liberal and Calvinist? It's true that liberal churches are usually characterized by tolerance for homosexuality, a pro-choice stance, liberalism on other social issues, as well as a heterodox theology. Now don't get me wrong, all of the things that I mentioned are definitely not Biblical. But above all of these issues, I think it's safe to say that "liberal" in the theological sense is usually code for "I believe that everyone is going to heaven." Yet Calvinism says precisely the opposite. Therefore, how could a Calvinistic church possibly be liberal?

I attend a fundamental, dispensational, KJV Only Church. We're liberals.

Just kidding. I couldn't vote, I'm a Baptist reforming, in a dispey church. The Pastor is excellent and we're mission driven.

Dispy, KJV-only, yet Reformed? That's a combination that I thought I'd never see!

Then you ain't been around the block yet young whipper snapper. My deceased father-in-law (may he enjoy his present state of glorification), was solely responsible for leading me from Arminianism to the doctrines of grace. He was the most staunch 5-pointer that I have ever met and it only paled in comparison to his premillennial dispensationalism. Now as for KJV, he prefered NASB (Ryrie's, of course).

i can and did vote. i am a member of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church. About the only stand we have that would be construed as "Liberal" is that we neither mandate nor forbid female Ruling or Teaching Elders.

Practically speaking, there have been only four female Teaching Elders (Ordained ministers) in the denomination. Of those, One has left the denomination, two are retired, and one is a missionary.

It is a difficult balancing act. The UPCUSA is apostate. While there are Christians who remain within it, it is continuing to fall into apostacy with each passing year, despite such fine organisations such as The Confessing Church Movement (which originated at a congregation near my present home).

None the less, such blatant apostacy has the advantage of being obvious, and therefore the member of the UPCUSA congregation can avoid such things.

My denomination has some questionable issues. Deception is a very real possibility because said deception would be (and is) much more subtle, and not so obvious on first inspection. In some ways i envy the sincere members of the UPCUSA.

Can't really vote, the options are too limited.
