  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Does God ever prepare you for things that eventually happen to you or to others you love? It seems God has always prepared me for things to happen...like when my great grandmother died, well I didn't know that she was going to pass away so soon, but I remember right before her death I would start thinking about her and about the memories I had with her and just be thankful. I also felt a peace that if she passed away any time soon I would be okay with it because I knew she'd be in a better place. It seems like God has also prepared me to overcome other obstacles in my life before I've even begun to face them and has also prepared me for good things.

Are there situations where you have felt God was preparing you for a situation that was coming up, when you look back on what happened? How do you know if it's God preparing you or if it's just your imagination or a self-fulfilling prophesy?

Yes. Probably about 15-30 minutes before I found out my mom died, I had this very clear thought in my head that she was dead. I didn't really have any reason to think that thought, as she hadn't been seriously sick or anything. I really believe that it was God telling me.

And actually, there's something going on in my life now that I think God is preparing me for, but it hasn't all played out yet so I'll have to get back to you on that one. ;)

umm i sure hope God is preparing me for whatever lies ahead. Because i sure seem to have been through a lot of painful stuff and it would be regretful if it didnt go to use to build my character into such a person who will truly appreciate God's blessings when he send some rainbows and sunshine.

I think that it is our attitude that enhances our ability to learn and grow from our choices and experiences. As a Christian our attitudes are rooted in the word of God and our relationship with Him and fellowship with other believers. Our faith helps us get through the difficulties knowing that we fit into a bigger plan and the one in charge of the plan is the creator of all things! That inspires confidence! We cannot count on God being our personal genie on a bottle though. His plan for us when we surrender all to him may include persecution, hardships and trials for some and prosperity for others. I get great comfort from Romans chapter 8 in this area. The ~quality~ of life we get as true believers in Christ surpasses what a non believer can possibly imagine as most non believers think horizontally, in terms of terrestrial life and riches whereas we the believers think vertically based on relationship the Lord on High who gives us true prosperity in a way that is eternal and more fulfilling than anything this world can offer us.

If our choices lead us to harm ourselves in some way our heavenly father is good to us and will teach us a valuable lesson if we are open to seeking him out like King David did after his terrible choice. Had he not made that choice is it possible that God would have taught him the lesson in another way? I cannot say for sure but would believe that God can teach us what he wants us to know without causing us to sin or stumble.

Yes, I would have to definitely say YES. I look back at my life and I see how God prepared me to meet my current boyfriend. I had to go through some very tough times, and I didn't understand why God was making me go through them, but I am now very thankful! :)

God Bless,

The night I heard that my older brother was in the hospital, I had a sudden overwhelming peace flood me. I went to my room to pray and I felt that God was showing me that he had it all under control. Granted, him being in the hospital did cause me to consider that he might die, but still. I really felt God preparing me for when we heard that he did. I've noticed since then that for at least a year leading up to his death the Lord was preparing my whole family for what was about to happen. It has been amazing to see God's hand in this situation. It has helped so much with the grief. I ache for those people who do not have the Lord in those times where His comfort is most needed. I couldn't have done without it.

My situation is sorta similar. I had some really hard time before meeting my SO. I got hurt dozens of time and I was really mad at God at times but then I started to realize the whole process had a meaning. It made me so much more mature and stronger as a person. Above all, it brought me closer to God.

When things finally got better, I met this guy and was like well, hello, this isn´t how it´s supposed to go.. I was starting to like being on my own and everything was just.. really good. I didn´t want a guy to mess it all up :D

Needless to say this guy´s awesome and made it even better  I´ve realized that things hadn´t worked out with other guys ´cause I had been pretty immature and not ready for it. Not saying I´m some supermature person now but let´s just say much more than I used to be ;)

Hindsight is good..
