"PREPARE TO MEET YOUR MAKER" means what exactly ?

Prepare to meet your maker means what... ?

How does one go about the actual preparation ?

Or is this simply movie dialogue when confronted with death ?

It's probably referring to reading final rites and last confession before one dies. Like, repent of your sins. Although in most movies they don't give them time, so they are just being snarky.

;) it's just movie dialogue.

Yeah, I think confession is a big part of "preparing to meet our Maker". But I think it also involves a commitment to change the way we live our lives, IF we are given more time to make things right.

The story of the person who waits until they are about to die before they 'repent' is pretty classic. But when they wait that long, are they really repenting? Or are they trying to get away with as much selfish indulgence as possible, and then claim a change of heart at the last minute to sneak into the pearly gates?

One must prepare to meet their God by receiving His "...great salvation" in His beloved Son --the Lord Jesus, the Christ. All mankind will stand before Him either as a redeemed "child of God" or at the "Great White Throne" for everlasting condemnation in Hell. All will come before God after this life, and it is not a time for negotiations, for "now is the day of salvation" as God says --the only hope for salvation. Read John 1; John 3; John 14 to learn God's offer to man in the little while we have.

Hi Watchman,

I don't disagree that one must 'receive' the Lord's salvation in preparing to meet the Father. But my question is: how does one do this?

And you are very right that we will all stand before God. Matthew 25 in fact tells us that God will separate the sheep from the goats come judgment day. But have you noted the basis by which He separates the sheep from the goats according to that passage?
