  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Should a pregnant worker be accommodated to a lesser extent than another worker temporarily disabled because of a sports injury acquired offsite?
yes because unless she was raped that was HER choice ( particularly if she did not use any form of protection.

Most full time jobs in the UK offer 21 paid holidays per year as standard. I get 28 days holiday in my contract, and got paid for the 6 days I had off earlier on in the year due to illness.

Strange to hear that employees from the richest country in the world don't even get vacation days?

The same companies in different countries have different pay and different stances on sick leave.

They give employees low wages and no sick leave here because it's legal and they can get away with it.

that depends. People look for things like sick leave and so sometimes it makes sense to offer it from a BUSINESS standpoint. Particularly when the economy is better than it is right now.

Honest question how can entry level positions no longer exist? Instead of just moving up to where now entry level is what used to be the second level, for example.
Interns, paid or unpaid, often do the entry level jobs. Also when there is a glut of experienced workers on the market, employers can raise standards well above actual requirements.

What I was trying to say is like if the tech advances were the REASON for no entry level positions maybe what used to be directly ABOVE entry level was the new entry level position?

I still don't understand your question?

I was taught on the up to date program in college. I was ready to start work. This is AutoCAD, and I had also been trained in hand drafting on case I was doing initial field work.

lol You have kids? pregnancies aren't exactly on the clock accurate in case you forgot.

He should just automatically take it out. She doesn't have to make arrangements for something that is unpredictable like that. He isn't losing money. Just deduct it from ehr vacation days. She just won't have a vacation later.
Yes, I have kids. Last I recall, it takes nine months for them to arrive which gives the woman time to plan

My understanding that an important point in the lawsuit is that, she claims, the company had a history of giving light duty to employees that had other short term disabilities for injuries that were not work related. Under the law, they would need to the same thing for pregnant employees. The company denies that it had done that, but supposedly the plaintiff has evidence that they have and the company has not shown that it hasn't.
That can be affected by two factors at least, one being the availability of light duty work. The other is whether or not people received light duty assignments due to work related injuries

Like, I don't understand the wording. Something seems off and it confuses me as to what the subject is of what you're asking. Can you reword it again, please?

I was wondering why there were no entry level positions.

That's because the workers are all individualistic and only look out for themselves, the employers know this and use it to their advantage, "keep them divided and it keeps there quiet."
Until Americans start looking out for each other nothing will change, the rich will get richer and the poor will die.

If you don't agree you can always go and vote to give the rich another tax cut and give them even more money.
Outside of the US that blows everyone's mind, the poor willingly giving money to the rich, amazing.

So I'm not big on the government setting MORE rules for maternity care, because I think that's gonna scare employers away from women even more.
Hopefully, she'll lose. If a woman gets pregnant, it is not the employer's fault and the employer should not be forced to suffer a loss because of it
I do not believe a woman who is currently expecting should have the right to be in a protected class. If you are expecting do not try to get a job. If you find out you are expecting and will be giving birth any time PRIOR to having worked a year with your employer do not expect your job back.

Wow.

Way to focus on the family, guys.

This isn't about making employers offer something they don't already, it's about. whether employers can treat pregnancy different from other temporary disabilities gotten on the worksite.

To mine the FMLA says that IF an employee has worked for an employer for a year and puts in so many hours during that 12 month period He or she must be granted up to 12 weeks unpaid job protected leave. If an employer wishes to offer more leave or pay all or part of such leave that is great, but by law they are NOT required to do so. Child birth is one thing covered under the act, BUT it makes no sense for women ALREADY expecting to be protected as any adult knows she will NOT have enough time to get in the year.

A year is a year is a year if you NEED an expended time off PRIOR to the year being up for ANY reason INCLUDING the birth of a child then by LAW you have no right to expect your job back.

the 'focus', not just of this thread, but even of the whole site(if there is a 'focus' at all),
is not what Jesus says to focus on.

not just what Jesus says to focus on, but what to do and how to live every day. it's not even mentioned here in this thread - the whole thread is a mute point for that matter - ...

in short, see what Jesus says, about how to live and what to focus on.

see it in Scripture (you won't see it online without a lot of more posts arguing against Scripture).

for the simplest example as an example, and more than anybody probably will ever achieve here (on this forum),
but at least let it be known - to seek and to follow Jesus is the way of life -
there is no other way -

this is one family seeking and following Jesus >
(sad that this will be the only example a lot of posters ever see)

Amish: A Secret Life - YouTube

An intimate portrait of Amish family life and faith, following Old Order Amish couple Miriam and David and their family, and capturing the reason why this family decided to open their lives to the cameras in a society where the church forbids photography.

if the link doesn't work, search for it - it is at least non-toxic(not harmful to familes, children , seekers of truth) , which is more than can be said for 99% of online and other videos.
