  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

speak , believe , expect , give thanks for , receive - 1 John 5.14-18
Mat 6:5 And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites [are]: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.

Mar 11:24 Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive [them], and ye shall have [them].
Jhn 16:23 And in that day ye shall ask me nothing. Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, he will give [it] you.

Here are the 5 remaining inexact matches:

Deu 32:7 Remember the days of old, consider the years of many generations: ask thy father, and he will shew thee; thy elders, and they will tell thee.

Luk 11:13 If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall [your] heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?

Jhn 14:13 And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.

Jhn 15:16 Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and [that] your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you.

Jhn 16:26 At that day ye shall ask in my name: and I say not unto you, that I will pray the Father for you:

Greetings Thereselittleflower:

John 14:13-16 And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. 14 If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.
John 14:15 If ye love me, keep my commandments. 16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; 16 Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you.

John 16:23 And in that day ye shall ask me nothing. Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, he will give it you.

John 16:26-27 At that day ye shall ask in my name: and I say not unto you, that I will pray the Father for you: 27 For the Father himself loveth you, because ye have loved me, and have believed that I came out from God.

James 1:5 If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God (THE FATHER), that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.

Hebrews 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God (THE FATHER) must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

Absolutely - COME QUICKLY LORD JESUS! Maranatha!

Blessings,

Dad Ernie

Well Dad Ernie . . I think you are being less than honest with me . .

you asked me for scriptural proof of praying to Jesus . . I gave them to you . . yet you come back with this . . so I will repeat my question above to you as well

Yes, but what does this have to do with praying to, or not praying to Jesus?

I have given you scriptural verses which demonstrate this happening in the New Testament Church . . so what do scritural passages that have to do with praying to the Father have to do with praying to the Son Jesus? Nothing!

And your addition of (THE FATHER) after the occurances of the word GOD in your post above is YOUR invention . . the words (THE FATHER) do not exist in the original text . .

This is dishonest on your part as you are presenting YOUR interpretation of these passages as themselves part of the biblical text . . you have added to the bible . .

A failure to present an adequate response to my quotes of scripture will demonstrate that you have no real response and that the scripture supports praying to Jesus as well as the Father . . the fact that people prayed to Jesus by name in the New Testament is proof positive that we can pray directly to Jesus . .

Presenting quotes that teach us to pray to God the Father only tell us it is OK to pray to God the Father and do not say it is not OK to pray to Jesus . .

Your arguments are false and the logic you use to make them is false . .

The scriptures speak against your position very clearly . .

Peace in Him
