• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

Ok to get everything clear I have OCD, and part of that is uncontrollable (perverse thoughts), but anyway, when I pray, somtimes I feel like I am praying to Allah, I know it is weird, but that scares me at times, so somtimes I am too scared to pray (now even if there is a possibility that they are the same God), I still want to feel like I am praying to God, boy this is confusing, but can anyone help me with these thoughts. (I am sorry if this post has offended anyone). Is God ashamed of me, or angry?

No, God understands what's going on. One of the great things about the Holy Spirit is that if we don't pray correctly or don't know what to say, He will still transmit the messages from our heart straight to God the Father.

So, even though your brain is misfiring and thinks it is praying to Allah (which is the same God, by the way), the Holy Spirit knows what your true intentions are.

Well somtimes I even have satanic thoughts, I was reading this article or what ever about Three 6 Mafia (the rap group), and how one of their lyrics was supporting the devil, then I got these thoughts in my head, about what they said, and I am afraid that was what I believe, but I prayed and kept thinking NO NO Jesus/God is Lord, I am scared of damnation.

Things that are offensive or scary (such as these lyrics) tend to haunt us, particularly when we are anxious or "trying" hard to focus on what we feel we should be doing, i.e., prayer.

Regardless, we don't agree with these obsessions; otherwise they would not grieve us. The Lord knows we want to belong to Him and to praise him as he deserves. The fact that we are "broken" and cannot do so as we would like, does not change His love for us. He makes our relationship perfect, despite our imperfections. Take your grief over these thoughts to the Lord. He is greater than our thoughts and anxieties. These thoughts are nothing more than our fear of condemning ourselves by random thoughts that offend even us.

"If our hearts condemn us, know that God is greater than our hearts and knows all things" 1 John 3:20.

Realizing we cannot save (or damn) ourselves with unwanted thoughts once in God's grip, points to the importance of just accepting grace for the wonderful gift that it is.

God Bless,

Marc
