Hello bothers and sisters! I am a relatively new Christian and am discovering more and more as my journey progresses, so please be patient with me!

Tonight I met with a friend and after a long and wonderful day of prayer, and discussion, we began praying in tongues. Now, I am going to be completely honest here... When she first mentioned this to me (before today), I was skeptical. I did some research and found many conflicting opinions amongst Christians, and many interpretations of scripture relating to the topic. I remained open minded on the matter, however, as I love my friend dearly, trust her, and have witnessed the Holy Spirit move in her in a profound way. I also tried to keep in mind that I was very skeptical about visions from God until I began experiencing them... Indeed, I was very skeptical about God Himself until I myself experienced wholeness, love and a profound peace in the Holy Spirit.

A this moment in time, I don't know what to think.

We began by sharing testimonies, messages and visions, eventually focussing on one vision in particular of mine that has been reoccurring, and until this evening, incomplete. This evening, after a long period of prayer, that which had previously been incomplete was revealed to me and I was literally overcome. This was when we began praying in tongues. I can't even describe it... The sounds were not made by me... I was not voluntarily doing anything at all... It was as if something wonderful was happening to me, and not by me. It was truly amazing. Before hand, (after the completion of my vision) I felt as if my whole body had been made clean... Without meaning to sound ridiculous, it felt like just after brushing my teeth... But through my whole body... From my head, to the tips of my toes. I felt so very alive... More than alive... As if the Holy Spirit had breathed through my body. This was when my tongue was released.

I am currently sitting here in total awe and amazement of my experiences today... I can't deny that happened.... Or explain it away... but my rational mind is having a hard time getting to grips with it.

If anyone has any way of helping me understand this, I would be most grateful if you would share it with me!

Thank you so much for taking the time to read this :)

Yeah God :clap::clap:

It is wonderful when we commune with the Lord and He gives us a personal touch. Cherish these times, keep a journal too. Although one of the ways I know it was the Lord speaking to me, is I never forget it… life changing. When I was a new Christian they were much more frequent as was my need for them.
I have found praying in the Holy Spirit like watering my garden, without it. I get dry, I like to go to sleep speaking in tongues and wake with the Lord giving me dreams and epiphanies.
I Corinthians 14:2
"For he that speaketh in an unknown tongue speaketh not unto men, but unto God: for no man understandeth him; howbeit in the spirit he speaketh mysteries."
I Corinthians 14:14
"For if I pray in an unknown tongue, my spirit prayeth, but my understanding is unfruitful.
