One of the moderators on the Pizza Parlor board, Polycarp, is having some serious financial troubles---he's been unemployed for a year now, and his car was recently repossessed. Please pray for him and his family during this difficult time, that the Lord will be with them until they can get on their feet again.

Lord, please do not let this family go destitute, unless that is your best will for them. The biggest blessing You ever gave me was when You let me lose everything and let me learn to depend on You for everything. So let it be for this family. Let them look to You to feed them, employ them, provide for them and be the steady foundation and building blocks of their lives. Them them learn faith through this. Let the children be introduced to You through this. Let the church family be blessed by giving through this. Let the neighbors be spiritually nourished through this. Yes ..Polycarp is a dear friend from over at my old Board. I knew he was having trouble getting a job and was losing things little by little.
A Good example of him is that when his personal Computer finally broke down he was going to the Library to post on the message board. He was/is so deditated to Debating Religious issues he did that.
I've had him in my prayers for a while, but cannot help him financially due to my own thin financial resources.

Thanks for posting this Wols!  And thank you all for your prayers.

 

Just to briefly update Poly's situation, he has received an amazing amount of financial support from the Straightdope board.  I would post a link to the exact thread, but I'm brand new here in the past few minutes and I don't want to start off by breaking any of your rules.  Polycarp and his wife now have a vehicle to use, which is not fully paid for, as I understand the current situation.  The Straightdopers are continuing to raise funds and some of us from the Pizza Parlor have joined them.  A computer will be provided also. 

 

This really has been quite an impressive Christmas miracle, showing the positive side of the internet community when a genuine need arises for a man who is loved by many.  Polycarp has been a good testimony on a board that apparently is mostly non-Christian.

Prayers for Peace of Mind and Healing Needed

I have just found out that a couple of the people who were quite involved in the fundraising that rescued me have the symptoms that might indicate cancer. I've been asked to keep their identities confidential, but if I ask you all to hold up in your prayers two wonderful women who have been carrying heavy burdens of responsibility for years, who added to those burdens voluntarily by going out of their way to help me in my time of need, and now are faced with the anxiety of waiting for a diagnosis and the possibility of finding out they have cancer.
