• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Prayers for our Parish please

This has just appeared on our Parish FB Chat thread - from our Priest

Dear all, yesterday during our Liturgy our office and our flat were burgled. Two computers and some money was stolen and one of our parishioners had a bag and wallet stolen. I share this just so that we can all become more aware. This is the second incident in the last weeks that we have had something stolen. Last week our collection plate was taken from outside our church downstairs. Please let’s all be a little more careful and keep our eyes open to anything or anybody unusual.

Obviously we are going to have to do something about our security but since the premises are not ours the Protestant Church are also going to have to check things out too - access to the flat and Offices are going to have to be secured when neither Father or our Monk are actually there

Sounds like it may be an inside job!!??

It is NOT a member of our Community - the problem is that access to the premises is not totally under our control - our Hosts have many small communities renting/occupying their accommodation etc for different activities etc. Saturday mornings are busy ones for them with about 6 groups present during the day.

On several occasions recently as I arrived I've been asked by someone , not belonging to our Community , for access to the main Church entrance [ a coded entry ] As a disabled person I have always had the code but on occasions I have told folk who want me to let them in that I cannot - they will need to wait for someone from their group. I feel mean doing this - but I think it's necessary for everyone's safety. Yesterday's incident has shaken us badly

Your prayers are appreciated - thank you for them

Our run of unhappy events continues :(

Today our Monk has tested positive for Covid - so all Services for the rest of the week are cancelled :( :(

Our priest is now self isolating and hoping he will stay unaffected and test negative, but considering he and our Monk share a flat this cannot be guaranteed.

Please continue to keep us in your prayers. This really is a trial during the Great Fast

I should have added earlier that though Fr and our monk share a flat - it is possible for Fr to isolate himself elsewhere - and this is what he has done.

Just heard from our monk - he's feeling a bit better but his tests are still positive. Seems Fr is not feeling great [ this can happen with him ] but Brother does not know how his tests are. I ~suspect~ we will be cancelling our Zoom Prayers tomorrow :(

It still continues :(

Our Monk is still testing positive - and thanks to our track and trace system Fr has been instructed that he has to isolate till this weekend. However as so many in our Parish are testing positive at present [ numbers in Scotland are horrendous - 11922 positive tests yesterday ] all our Liturgies are cancelled now until after the weekend :(
