  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Just wanted to update here to assure everyone that my sister seems perfectly fine, now, and has ever since my last post. It looks like Santi and Luca - her two already existing children - are enough to help her forget what happened, easily enough. :)

And unfortunately, now we're back to square one. *sigh* When I came home from work just now, my mother informed me that my sister has been found to have another mass growing in the place of her lost child a couple of months ago, and let's just say this "mass" is not another potential blessing in the form of a newborn baby. She is having to go into chemo therapy now. At least in the moment, this upset me quite a lot more than I thought I normally would be feeling. I am better now, but that remains to be seen for my sister, and I am quite worried now for her. Please pray for her to get through this alive and with as little pain as possible. ... Because I will not lie about how I am feeling about this; this really sucks.

It is not looking hopeful right now. My sister does not want to talk about it aloud with family and friends right now, so I don't really know what to do right now to let her know she has me and many others on her side in this, but, apparently her first chemo treatment failed. And now she will have to resort to a more aggressive treatment, hair loss and all.:(

Well, I keep telling myself, a few years ago I had been told that the girl I once loved in college had currently been suffering from cancer, too, and needed to go to the extreme means where she too lost all of her hair, and of course, all the while her loved ones worried that she would not make it. She won the battle eventually and now seems long back to her normal self. So somehow, while it may not be entirely logical on my part to think this way, just knowing that gives me hope that my sister Brooke will also eventually make it through this and be just fine after so long, despite also having to deal with cancer while this young.

Don't be surprised if all of a sudden she develops superhuman will and determination. Several of my close friends and family went through this, and they all did the same thing.

She'll be down now, but quite soon she'll get tired of being unwell and she'll fight back. You've just got to support her and fight alongside her when it does, and DON'T see her as vulnerable for a moment. She needs to feel strong and she needs you to view her as strong.

I did just pray in my head a second or two ago and I pray that it is received well.

Be strong.
