  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

If you get another fish, try using tonic salt. I used to use a little tonic salt and it helped the fish to be healthier, they were less stressed out:

What does aquarium salt do for freshwater tanks? | Fish Tank World

You must use tonic salt for freshwater tanks, do not use salt with caking agents or iodine, that's bad.

Fish can be delicate creatures and diseases aren't that rare. Mine usually only lived for a few years. Guppies are amazingly hardy from what I remember. Goldfish were OK too. It doesn't surprise me your betta got sick, from what I remember, they are somewhat delicate. Sometimes diseases in fish can be difficult to treat without specialized equipment or a vet.

If a fish got seriously ill I would just euthanize it in alcohol (vodka), and it would go to sleep. Some fish diseases are basically terminal and there's not much you can do, at least twenty years ago when I was big into the hobby.

I got more out of growing aquatic plants with only a few fish. That makes for much healthier tanks in the long run.
