Prayers for my Ancestors...

Last Autumn, I started looking up the history of my family, and what I found was quite interesting, it all started in a small Basque village, where my oldest named ancestor built a tower. His descendants, eventually moved to, and spread all over New Spain, intermarrying with natives and becoming a Mestizo family; some of us even made it as far as Asia. One of the key symbols of my family is the Black Wolf, (which is why Multifavs' brilliant rendition of one is pictured above) it appears on both our first family crest, as well as our current one. In medieval heraldry, the wolf symbolizes both, determination under a siege, and diligence in in industry, thus, the Black Wolf in my family crest could represent either, the hard work that went into the building the tower mentioned above or, it could symbolize the fact that the tower is a defensive structure for the village. (Though I've now discovered that wolves are a common symbol in Basque and Biscayne culture, and have much more meanings in that regional culture: What do wolves symbolize in Basque and Biscayan heraldry?)

I won't name them, but I'm setting up this thread on the OBOB chapel to pray for any and all of my ancestors who may be in purgatory. I haven't been praying for the souls in purgatory as often I should, so I figured I'd post this to get into the habit of praying for them.

I am all thine and all that I have is Thine, O Virgin blessed above all things! Let thy soul be in me to magnify the Lord; let thy spirit be in me to rejoice in God. Set thyself, O faithful Virgin, as a seal upon my heart, that in thee and through thee I may be found faithful to God. Receive me, O gracious Virgin, among those whom thou lovest and teachest, whom thou leadest, nourishest and protectest as thy children.
