  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Hi everybody
Im reading a book on prayer and I am stumped on 1 issue that the author talks about.
He says that man has dominion over the earth which is quoted in Gen 1:26
"Let them....over all the earth" and he talks about that since we have this dominion that we have the authority and the need to pray in order to let God interfere with the events happening on earth. But then theres a verse in Psalm 22:28 which is basically saying that God has dominion over the earth, which would be contradicting Gen 1:26 woudnt it?
Im not trying to bash anything...just trying to grow deeper in knowledge about the Word and about prayer :D
Any help about this would be great!
Thank you
God Bless and have a great day!

A couple of thoughts in reply;

1 - Ps 22 :27, 28 - All the ends of the world shall remember and turn unto the Lord: and all the kindreds of the nations shall worship before thee.
For the kingdom is the Lord's: and he is the governor among the nations.

The kingdom here talked about is the kingdom of the Lord, or the church of Christ, the kingdom of grace. David is here praying that the church of Christ should extend itself to all the corners of the earth and should take in all sorts of people.

2 - I am also reminded of the parable of the wicked husbandmen here in Matthew 21:33, Mark 12, Luke 20:9;

God is the householder of this world and we are but tenants.

Hope this helps in some way to you.

JC,

I would be puzzled, too. How Jesus prayed is recorded in Hebrews 5:7.

In the days of his flesh, Jesus offered up prayers and supplications with loud cries and tears, to the one who was able to save him from death,
and he was heard because of his revenent submission.

The statement in the book sounds great and tends to give us confidence. But I just wonder if it elevates our position a little too high. What do you think?

God is Creator and remains owner of the earth, but He delegated a lot of the responsibility for running it to Adam.

Adam chose to disobey, so becoming an unfit manager and forfeiting some of that authority.
Then the devil muscled in to take over as much as he could; a situation which remains today.

When a person comes to Christ, our authority can be legally restored, but is incomplete because the devil still controls the minds and estate of the unsaved, and if we Christians are not walking in obedience, or don't understand our position, we are unable to excercice the full authority.

When Jesus Christ returns we will be perfected, there will be no sin, and creation and our place in managing it will be completely restored.

It will all still belong to God, but Jesus says we will serve Him yet also reign with Him.

I can hardly believe it, yet that's what the Bible tells us!
Rev. 22:
3 No longer will there be any curse. The throne of God and of the Lamb will be in the city, and his servants will serve him.
4 They will see his face, and his name will be on their foreheads.
5 There will be no more night. They will not need the light of a lamp or the light of the sun, for the Lord God will give them light. And they will reign for ever and ever.

God bless, Susana

jesus told us to pray and say things like "your will be done, your kindgome come" as if he really needed to say those things... as if he didnt ask for them... they wouldnt be done.

james said you have not, becuase you ask not.... even though the bible also said he knows the things you need before you ask.

God desires many things and wants to do many things, but the scripture teaches that we need to pray in order to see them come to pass.
prayer is our umbilical cord to God, it all has to come through prayer.

becuase God gave adam dominion, and told him to tend and and to keep the earth that means adam had responsibility not God... and adam gave it satan.
so legally satan has control and authority and is the "prince of the air" or the "god of this world"
the scripture calls him both of those.
