I don’t really know the details, and I may be way off base in my response here, but just in case it helps…
It seems to me that a lot of Christians, out of a good conscience, want to witness willy-nilly here and there.
But the Bible tells us to be discreet in evil times. Messiah told us not to cast our pearls before the swine or give what is holy to the dogs lest they turn on us and attack us.
Of course obviously Christians from the beginning, have put themselves at risk for the sake of the gospel, sometimes with pretty awful outcomes for them.
But even so, we are only to witness as the Holy Spirit guides us to do so. It may be that would lead to danger, and it may be that it would not. But if the Holy Spirit is doing the guiding, it will bare some kind of a good fruit.
The apostles got their nets packed with fish, when they had caught nothing the nights before, because they obeyed the Lord and threw the nets where he told them to do so.
I have personally certainly experienced persecution for my faith. But it has been at a comparatively much lower level than so many have experienced, like with insults and rejection. And I wasn’t even trying to convert anyone, but they just couldn’t stand me being who I was in the Lord.
I no longer try to witness to anyone at all, unless I feel the Holy Spirit is leading me to do so. And that is very rare. Or I will witness at a safe distance. For example, through the promotion of things like creation science on YouTube.
There are many places where I won’t wear a cross to be publicly seen. I’ve noticed that sometimes that just gets people to look at me with hostility. Again, if the Holy Spirit told me to wear the cross visibly, I would do so. But that hasn’t happened.
Messiah talked about Demon seed. You can witness to them from now till doomsday and they ain’t gonna change. And we are also told that if you rebuke a fool, he will hate you.
He also said that only a few will take the straight and narrow path to heaven. That means that the great majority of people that we see out there will not be responsive to our testimonies and witnesses.
These are very evil times, and I’m just saying, I think we all need to proceed with caution. If you are not being prompted from heaven to witness, or make a show of your faith, maybe it’s best to just go about your business quietly.
