  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

If ya'll could pray for me. . .

I'm staying home from Sunday School today because I feel ill, like I am going to collapse. I have to play the PM service later on.

Since classes began, I've been having day classes four days a week, two evening classes that end at 10 PM on Mon. and Thurs., Tues. I have three straight classes then I teach till 7:30, Wed. I have prayer meeting, I work all day Friday and then 11-7.30 on Sat (and no, I don't get to sleep it). If we have people over or go to someone's house on Sundays, I have no chance to rest. I've had little/no time with my family. . .when I get home from work I don't really want to sleep because I want to see them. Consequently, I've been running on very little sleep and today it finally caught up with me. A month ago, I put in a request at work so that I wouldn't have to work on Fridays (I need a day off) anymore--it got lost. So now I have another month to go as I have been (they do schedules three weeks in advance and won't change them). so even though it's their fault, I'm still going to have to work Fridays. I feel so tired right now and want to cry when I think of how I have another month of this hectic schedule. I know that a lot of people have even more busy schedules than I, but my body is really feeling it right now. If you'd pray that God would give me strength to go on, I'd appreciate it. . .

Hey Erin - definitely praying for you. Praying you can have Friday's off.

I've done a fair bit of work with uni students in the past. The noticable trend is the work aspect. More and more uni students are doing more and more outside work. For some it's because they are paying their way through. For others it is for more frivolous stuff like gadgets, music, clothes, etc. For others it is to save for the overseas trip after uni.

I know you've had these jobs (both work and teaching music) for a while, but maybe it's time to reassess the money part of your life. I have no idea of your financial situation, and am not trying to make judgements. But uni/college is a great time in life to grow and learn as a christian. It's a time to make make choices about a balance between time and money. I am sure you know this already, but I just want to let you know you are not alone in these decisions. They are common to many uni student. I would encourage you to choose time obviously, if you are able to. I hope this comes across ok. I've re-read it a few times... I'm not trying to have a shot at you.

Praying for you Erin.

Watching my daughter balance her church life, college, work as well as a social life I get exhausted. She's always doing something - often out until 2:00 a.m. in the morning or up at 6:00 or 7:00 a.m. I see first hand what a struggle it can be. I also know how hard it is to find an area to cut back because all are important.

Father God - your daughter Erin has a full life with many demands for her time. Please guide her, teach her to use her time wisely, show her areas where she can say "no," strengthen her - give her the health she needs to accomodate all that is required of her. Also, be with her family and friends - help them be supportive of Erin as she faces these many demands.

Thanks everyone for your prayers. I got through playing tonight without getting sick (I almost ran out at one point though. . .would have been strange to see the pianist darting away in the middle of the service) and am feeling a little better now.

Erin, I completely agree with everything you said. Right now I am working to fill up my gas tank every week and to pay for car insurance and school books. Thankfully, I don't have class expenses to worry about at this time. I think that if I keep teaching (which I do not want to give up since it's good experience and I love it) and work just one day a week, my expenses should be pretty well covered. . .but I'm still wondering if it would just be best to take a LOA from Target till school's out. I'll keep praying about it.

Once again, thank you all for your continued prayers in my behalf as I struggle through this passage in my life.

Hi Erin

I know life can be stressful , I think we all need to find a good balance , I often turn down Overtime at work , I think 50+ hours is quite enough , and I often book a Friday off (the roads in the UK are madness on Fridays)

so I can appreciate your problems.
I pray the Lord grants you a healthy life and a rest in Him.

Glad things went well last night, Erin. Praying that you find peace and balance.

Praying for you erin, that you find balance. It sounds too me like it's time to sit down and take a good hard look at what you are involved in and see what you may be able to give up. Because obviously, you cannot go on like this. Are you getting time just for you? Because it's needed.

May the Lord bless you with peace and wisdom.......
