Prayer Request

[Miss Shelby]

My father in law passed away last Wednesday Nov. 20th.  As some of you may remember I had asked for prayers on his and my family's behalf when we learned of his illness. 

I would like to ask for continued prayers for his soul, and also for our family... my husband in particular.  He was very close to his dad.  With the holidays around the corner it is bound to be a tough season. 

Thanks sincerely to all who have prayed and who will honor this request as well.

Your husband and family have my deepest sympathy. My dad died on Christmas Eve, 1988. I was very close to him, and I went sort of numb for about three months afterwards.

I remember my sister was sitting in the hallway crying, and she said, "What a terrible time of the year to have this happen!", and the charge nurse said, "Well, honey, look at the great birthday party he just crashed." Christmas Eve.

This isn't something you can practice for. You roll with the punch and do the best you can. And there is no "proper way" to handle it, either. Everybody grieves a little differently. You just do the best you can.

You have my prayers as well, Michelle.

Thanks everyone for your prayers and words of comfort. It helps immensely.

I should probably mention that Ted didn't suffer and he had time to spend with his family and say his goodbyes. He also received the Sacrament of
Reconciliation one last time and the Anointing of the sick. We have much to be thankful for.

Loving Father,

Michelle and her family are approaching the holidays without their loved one this year. He was sick, Father, and none of his family wanted to see him suffer. They know he is with You now, and will never hurt again. For that, they praise You.

That empty plate at the table will be hard to face, though. Let them weep softly together, then fill their hearts with happy memories so that they may remember Grandfather not as he was during his last illness, but forever laughing.

In Jesus's name we pray.
