  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Could I come here again and ask for prayer? I am having much trouble trying to pray about a situation that my husband and I are going through. I am not doing so well right now.
Dear seajoy, I hope and pray the sitation is resolved and that you have no fear.
Quick question ... any changes in medications ... I saw your mood icon ...

Coming to all of you for prayers for my brother and sister in law again

Mom (and I) think that Melissa might have ovarian cancer. She has all the "point to it" signs but her current GYN is blowing her off. Her Mom is friends with a woman who is the receptionist for a very good GYN and this woman is working on getting Melissa into see him. Please pray that Melissa gets the needed tests and that she does NOT, in fact, have ovarian cancer.

And Keith is still having bad chest pains. His medicine helps but not enough and with Melissa being as sick as she is and with his high stress job (he's a Police Officer), it's just not going to get better. Keith will probably need a stint put in the vessel that's blocked by the deformity so that it (the deformity) doesn't squeeze so much that it cuts off the flow so completely.

They're in their young 30s and have 2 children, Lindsey and Luke, who are under the age of 10. Please keep them all in your prayers.

Thank you all so much.
I hope and pray all turns out OK.
And stents are not that bad. I have two. :)

A week ago, I had to go off "T" because I was having nasty reactions. Also, because the "T" drug is needed to stop side effects with "A" drug, I had to go to a 1/2 dose of "A". I know that makes no sense, but trust me, that's the changes that were made. Anyway, thanks for asking.

I'm just not ready to talk about why I asked for prayer....just pray...God knows.

Thanks to Jim, Kae, Flip, and Ed, for your prayers. It means a lot to me. :groupray:

All glory, laud and honor,
To Thee, Redeemer, King,
To Whom the lips of children
Made sweet hosannas ring.
Thou art the King of Israel,
Thou David’s royal Son,
Who in the Lord’s Name comest,
The King and Blessèd One.
Refrain
The company of angels
Are praising Thee on High,
And mortal men and all things
Created make reply.
Refrain
The people of the Hebrews
With palms before Thee went;
Our prayer and praise and anthems
Before Thee we present.
Refrain
To Thee, before Thy passion,
They sang their hymns of praise;
To Thee, now high exalted,
Our melody we raise.
Refrain
Thou didst accept their praises;
Accept the prayers we bring,
Who in all good delightest,
Thou good and gracious King.

PRAISE BE UNTO HIM...

Prayer of thanksgiving. Tomorrow (20th) we celebrate our 38th anniversary. Unfortunately I will be traveling for the next week, so have to wait until I get back to dine out.

Congrats on your anniversary, filo. May God continue to guide you and your wife's marriage.

Two good friends of mine are finding out at 9:00 a.m. CT today what will happen with their jobs. They have figured for quite some time that they would be eliminated and have been preparing for the inevitable, but it's still hard. They work at the corporate offices of a big real estate company. I go to church with both of them, one of them is my Bible Study leader.

Another friend is finding out if she's part of a 20% layoff where she works. She works for a company that does corporate/consumer research.

Yet another friend who's department where she works was eliminated should find out today or tomorrow if she gets the receptionist job where I work.

Praise God I still have a job.

** edited to say one of my friends has lost her job. Her last day is the end of May and she's getting 2 months severance after that. It's going to be tough, but she's seen this coming for some time and has been preparing. Waiting to hear about the other one, but if she's axed, it will be a similar situation with time and severance. I also found out she happens to have a job offer for her if she gets axed. It pays less but it's a job.

The one with the 20% layoff is safe for now.

Don't know about my friend who interviewed here, though she's the best qualified of what I've seen so far.

I guess one good thing is coming out of it - we're all going out for drinks and dinner at Llewellen's later today. For those who came to STL last Summer, that was where we went for Saturday night's dinner, except we are going to a different location closer to home for us. I volunteered to be a designated driver if needed.

Most of all, prayers for everyone we know affected by job loss.

... and I do remember that Saturday night in St.Louis. It was fun for all of us. :)

Thanks,

They ended up somewhere else from about 1:30 on - I picked them up when I got off work and brought them home because neither were in any condition to drive. Actually, one of them would have been ok, but I needed her to help me carry the other, and let her dogs out when we got to her house, etc. Even though they drank themselves silly, they really have a good attitude about it.

It's just shocking - the company they work for, a nationally known real estate company (the biggest in St. Louis) has gone from well over 100 employees in the corporate office a year ago, and when this round is through, there will only be 20 left.
