  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

After much discussion and prayer, Hope and I are planning to attend Prince of Peace Lutheran LC-MS at 9:30am here in Lakewood. We are also planning on going to Parkland Lutheran ELS for the monday 6:30pm service. This is merely so to try and guage in what direction God may be leading us at this time. I fear that with a split inevitable at OSLC, this is our only option. I ask for continued prayer as we venture down this semi-familiar path (went down this road when we left the ELCA).

My dear friends,

Please pray for our Sunday School at St. Mathew. At the beginning of summer it looked like we may not have one. We have been able to recruit one family so far, two brothers ages 4 and 6, and their stepsister age 10. These children have bee unchurched, but the girl has been baptized as an infant, and the boys mother has spoken with Pastor regarding baptism for her boys. Please pray that the Holy Spirit will help us bring the gospel to these kids and their families.

Your friend in Christ.

Mark

I am now asking for prayers for Rev. Paul Braafladt and his wife, Esther. On sunday, the church council of OSLC made a "unanimous" decision to excommunicate them. Please pray that God will lead them where he wants them to be.

I'm asking for prayer for myself. I'm having a reaction to one of my new meds that I started on in the hospital a couple of weeks ago. Kinda scary. I don't feel right. I'm waiting for my doctor to call me back again.
Still not doing well. I feel worse than yesterday. Anxiety is setting in too. Please pray for me. My doctor is not on call tonight. The doctor that is on call does not want to touch my case. I feel I'm on my own. Hubby is working late.

Sorry to dump this on you, my friends.

Angie, my prayers are with you. CALL ME IF YOU NEED TO TALK NO MATTER THE TIME!!!

Do you hear me? Or do I have to shout it again? :)

Seriously, call me honey. I'll be up and if I'm not, give me 30 seconds and I'll be (sort of) coherent.

Thanks, Kae. In the last 1/2 hour things have settled a bit. Hubby will be home in an hour. I'm doing a little better.

Thanks for being a pal. Tomorrow I have 2 doctor's appointments. I'll probably call you late afternoon.

Angie,

Your are always in my prayers,:crossrc: God looks after us in His own glorious way, in the wisdom of His time; you are not on your own. He blesses us all, each of us in the way that we need most. I pray that you will have the healing that you need, and the peace that you seek. I pray that you are feeling better soon.

Your dear friend,

Mark

SeaJoy praying things will get better for you
Thank you, ctay. I'm still slowly getting better. It brings so much peace to my heart to know others are lifting me up in prayer to our Lord.

One of the greatest gifts on this forum is for us to be able to pray for each other. Wouldn't it be sad if none of us had ever met.

I am so happy that others prayed for you. :)

These medicine side-effects are something really weird.
My father was taking some medicine and it began causing anxiety.
I was with him and did not know what to do, so I prayed in desperation. What a scary thing.
We never realized it was the medicine! We realized it later on after the prayer.
From then on he began checking every side-effect that comes written down with a bottle.

(Sorry I did not see this sooner).

Thanks,
Ed
