  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

:prayer:
I just want to ask for some personal prayer. Here is what's up.

I have been in a bit of a funk lately. I have had issues with trying to train people at work to do the job I do. I think I've fired somewhere around a dozen candidates in the last few weeks, mostly because of failure to follow simple instructions (specifically the instruction of not mailing paint or motor oil).

I am also feeling burned on politics. I can not fully support either well known presidential candidate nor am I enthused about any of the other minor party candidates.

Lastly, my education is an issue. I still owe the seminary about $500 from my previous set of independent study course work. Not only that, but I fully realize that even if I were to complete my B. Th. and M. Div, there is little to no likelihood that I'd even receive a call given that there are more clegy than available churches in LCMC (I have also received some negative feedback here on Theologia Crucis simply for being in LCMC and not the LCMS, though I have my reasons for not being LCMS).

I guess I just feel like my life is completely out of balance and I am just struggling to keep hold. I know that what I have listed may mean nothing to some, it has meaning to me. Thank you for tolerating me.

I would like to ask for prayer for wisdom:

I work self-employeed as a consultant and trainer for a specific software product. Even though I live in the UK, I have hardly been there during the last 12 months as I was working on projects in Germany and the Netherlands. My family went with me and stayed there, but of course the "gypsie" life style we are leading is not very pleasant and my wife would very much prefer for me to work in the UK and for us to stay in our house in there.

In the moment I have work lined up till the beginning of September; I will fly to Malaysia in two days and later to South Africa. For after that I have requests to either go back to the Netherlands or Germany in September and I have to give an answer to these potential customers within the next weeks. The problem is I do not know what to do:

- Should I trust that God will provide work for me in the UK in September and turn down the offers from Europe. The problem being that the IT market in the UK has slowed down enourmously over the last months and all the inquirys I got this year were from Continental Europe rather than the UK. OR
- Should I go for the safer option and accept one of the offers to work in either Germany or the Netherlands. Which would mean to expect of my wife to spend another 3 - 4 months away from home and live a rather isolated life as of course she does not know anyone in the place where we would stay.

Can you please pray for me to make the right decision. Advice is welcome as well.

Many thanks,
Till

Our friend is supposed to find out tomorrow the results of the HR investigation. Prayers he can at least present his side to the story, and that they believe him.

They called him Monday and fired him. They won't tell him who accused him, or what he supposedly did - they say they don't want him retaliating. He's understandably devastated.

Tuesday, he got a call from someone he knew in passing, but is now working at a different hospital. The hospital she is working at is hiring and she heard he needs a new job fast but won't tell him where she heard. He doesn't even know how she got his phone number. He put in his application and resume. Two of his neighbors work for the hospital - one is an ER doc, and they are down as references. Pray that this turns into an opportunity.

Lots of prayers. :prayer: That's a tough one. You want to do what's best for your family, but you also want to feed your family.

Update about my friend. He has an interview at 2:00 tomorrow with that other hospital group.

I finally got in touch with him and passed along my office manager's advice - don't know if he'll do it or not. He's also not ruling out hiring an attorney.

Meanwhile, his former manager called him and filled him in on what she knows about what happened. I'm not going to get into it for privacy reasons (and because it gets rather complicated), but it still comes down to that I still don't think he did anything harassing or sexual, and defintely nothing to get fired. His manager said that she got raked over the coals by HR and almost fired herself for defending him. She said to definitely put her down as a reference and that she considers him a friend and to please keep in touch.

It irks me to no end. I'm happy companies take it seriously - it once happened to me, the guy actually got physical, and I immediately reported it, and the person was fired. I understand that companies have to avoid lawsuits and such. However, my husband was accused 4 years ago, and if he didn't already have 14 years with his employer without a single complaint, he would have been fired too. Fortunately for him, the investigation showed he didn't do anything wrong as it should have, but he maintains there would never have been as detailed an investigation as there was had he been with the company less than 5 years. I recognize something isn't right in how companies handle this sort of thing.

Hi all...

Um, could I have some prayers? I've been experiencing some pain on the right side of my abdomen...sometimes sharp, most the time dull, achey and crampy. I have a call into my oncologist, I'm just waiting for a call back.

Talking with my Mom (a medical professional) it sounds like either adhesions or possibly a touch of chronic appendicitis or even diverticulitis.

Thanks everyone.

I just spoke with my mother; she has a biopsy next Tuesday to determine if is cancerous - and they have just diagnosed her with Parkinson's; she found out this on the same day.

She definitely needs prayer for the dealing with both issues.
