• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Prayers for your family, Kim. How's your little girl been doing?

Thanks for asking. Anna is doing great at school. She is in a special program designed for autistic kids. Unfortunately, she and my little boy have pneumonia. They are both getting better each day, though.

Prayers for your children Kim

Psalm 20
For the director of music. A psalm of David.
Ps 20:1 May the LORD answer you when you are in distress;
may the name of the God of Jacob protect you.
Ps 20:2 May he send you help from the sanctuary
and grant you support from Zion.
Ps 20:3 May he remember all your sacrifices
and accept your burnt offerings.
Selah
Ps 20:4 May he give you the desire of your heart
and make all your plans succeed.
Ps 20:5 We will shout for joy when you are victorious
and will lift up our banners in the name of our God.
May the LORD grant all your requests.
Ps 20:6 Now I know that the LORD saves his anointed;
he answers him from his holy heaven
with the saving power of his right hand.
Ps 20:7 Some trust in chariots and some in horses,
but we trust in the name of the LORD our God.
Ps 20:8 They are brought to their knees and fall,
but we rise up and stand firm.
Ps 20:9 O LORD, save the king!
Answer us when we call!

I have two requests:

Prayers for the family of Tiger's classmate. This little boy was born with multiple severe physical and mental disabilities and passed away early Friday morning.

Second request: Some areas of eastern Iowa have been hit with tornados in the past couple of hours. It sounds like a lot of damage. If you have ever heard of US Senator Chuck Grassley, his hometown was one place that was hit.

Many prayers going up for everyone!

And one of my own to add.

I just got word that my best friend, Kim (some of you might remember DogMom) was swimming with friends and she went to do a cannonball...something they've all done hundreds of times...and the pool "bit back". She broke her ankle in 4 places and had to have surgery tonight.

Please pray for complete healing, comfort, and peace. She's the "breadwinner" in the family and travels from Ft Wayne to Indianapolis each Monday morning for her job. She stays in Indy for 4 days and travels back on Thursday evening. She's currently a contract worker.

I'm not sure which ankle it is, but if it's her "driving foot" she's not going to be able to fulfill her contract if she can't drive. Her husband is partially blind and isn't able to drive her.

Thanks all,

Kae:crosseo:

Update on the tornado activity: The town of Parkersburg, IA has been flattened. I've heard 6-8 dead (at least one was at New Hartford) and 50-70 injured. It may have been an EF-5, the worst type. There were also tornados in Minnesota, with people killed in a suburb of the Twin Cities. :crossrc::prayer::groupray::crosseo: For all the people who lost loved ones or their homes and all the emergency workers.

Ben sent another update. Finally some good news!
Ben Paney said:
Friday l got the first good news l've gotten from the Dr since January- the tumor is not growing anymore. lt would be good to hear it was shrinking, but not yet. This looks like it means the radiation worked, and we may see some more progress in coming weeks.

So thank God with me for this answer to prayer, it is good to see some progress! My pain level has been up and down; it's hard to know what to read into that so l'm trying not to. Nausea has been low, so thank God for that too.

l'm feeling better and gaining a little weight each week, God really has helped strengthen me since even a month ago. l know the future's in His hands, pray with me for God to continue to heal me and get me healthy.
Please pray for him. This is the greatest man that I know and God will be able to do extraordinary things through him if he survives.

Yesterday I had lunch with one of our former elders, and one of my best friends over the past 15 years. We parted at 1:15 PM. By 2 PM he was having troubled, and drove himself to the hospital. The ER wasn't sure exactly what was wrong, and one of the staff recommended a CAT Scan - it saved his life. There was a tear on the aorta and unraveling quickly. That hospital had no capability to deal with it, but they knew how serious it was and getting worse by the minute. He was life-flighted to KU Med Center, and put directly into surgery. The tear was on the back side, and the lining provided some protection. Had it been on the front, he would have been dead in minutes.

Anyway, he had surgery and finally got out about 11 PM last night. The family had asked me to come when he was flown to the major hospital. I had been with them 15 years ago when she had a heart attack, and 10 years ago when he had cancer surgery. So we had been through a lot. So I stayed until he was out. The doctor seems confident that he will come through alright, although some major changes.

I would ask that you continue to pray for Al.

Oh no. Ben isn't doing so well. Ever since his last update that his tumor had stopped growing, he hasn't been doing so well. He sent us an update. Any prayers would be good.

Ben Paney said:
Since my last good news of the tumor not growing, things have gotten a lot harder. l do thank God for those good days, but man have these been hard.

l can't sleep well at night anymore, and almost can't sleep during the day at all. l'm exhausted and in pain from the chemo, which is one of its side effects. So pray with me that God alleviates the pain and grants me good rest.

Right now the plan is to see if the chemo is effective, no further radiation is planned yet. Thanks for being faithful and praying for me.

I had a phone call yesterday from a lady at my church. Her 2 1/2 year old great-granddaughter was diagnosed a couple of months ago with the same type of leukemia that Tiger has/had. She's very sick right now and in the hospital. This young family has no health insurance and already have thousands of dollars in medical bills.
