I need prayer for evil thoughts that keep entering my mind. Out of nowhere, I will have the most disturbing evil thoughts come into my mind. This even happens sometimes when I am praying. I detest the thoughts and never dwell on them at all unless they come up when my mind is wondering. When I snap too, I am disgusted at the thoughts and immediately go to Jesus in prayer.
I just don't know what to do. I think they may go away as my mind is renewed or I may have to deal with them for the rest of my life to some extent. I have come back to the Lord only a couple of months ago after a very long running from Him because I didn't think He would ever forgive me. During my running, I became very bitter and sex became my drug of choice.

It is a very good thing that you have been frank and honest. What you are experiencing has absolutely nothing to do with your righteousness in God through Christ Jesus. It is an attack from the enemy and is meant to stop you before you become truly grounded in God's Word.
Satan doesn't send so obvious an attack, in my opinion, if you weren't some kind of threat to him. He sees God's plan for your life; or at least, he sees God's anointing for your life. You will be used of God to win souls for his kingdom. Sometimes you'll plant the seed of God's Word, sometimes you will water a seed that has already been planted. God always brings the increase.
Be of good cheer. You have been given a great gift. All that you could ever need is in Christ. Christ is in God. God is in Christ. Christ is in you. All that you could need to overcome this already resides inside you.
Speak to the unclean thoughts. Speak to the unclean spirit which whispers these thoughts. There is no authority over Christ, and Christ has given you the same authority the Father gave him. In Jesus' name, you can speak to these evil thoughts - to this evil enemy and he must flee.
God's Word also says, we must ABIDE in him. We must KEEP OUR MINDS AND HEARTS ON HIM. We must BE FIRM IN OUR FAITH. WE MUST RESIST THE DEVIL, AND DRAW NEAR TO GOD - AND THE ENEMY MUST FLEE!
Father God, I thank you for giving us so much of your Spirit to fight battles. Thank you for your Word which tells us how we can know... discern.... get help... pray... defeat the enemy... become stronger and better for the kingdom of your dear Son. I pray that you release the enemy's hold on my brother. Rest his soul. Comfort him and give him peace that passes all human understanding. Giving him a knowing that he is clean in your sight... give him that knowing which can never be taken away or tarnished. Make him a light on a hill - a voice in the wilderness. Give him hope and rest from his worries. In Jesus' name, I pray for peace. Thank you, Father. Amen.
