  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Hey Guys,

I seriously need you to pray for me to recieve the Holy Spirit. I know, some of you think that you recieve the Holy Spirit when you accept Jesus, but that's not right, In the Bible, it says that people belived in Jesus, and they believed that He died for them... They accepted Jesus as their Lord and Savior, but they didn't recieve the Holy Spirit. The apostles had to go lay hands on them and pray for them to recieve the Holy Spirit. I really not the Holy Spirit on me, I need him to guide me and I want to talk to him and Him to me.

So, will you pray for me, I dont' want you just to say you will and then forget about it, you don't even have to say you will, I just want you to stop after reading this post and pray for me, please, I'm being serious, I need God in my life!

Ask God for the Holy Spirit directly, and He will come to you, just as He saved you when you asked for salvation. It's that simple.

"So I say to you: Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened. Which of you fathers, if your son asks for a fish, will give him a snake instead? Or if he asks for an egg, will give him a scorpion? If you then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!” - Luke 11:9-12

"'Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, streams of living water will flow from within him.' By this he meant the Spirit, whom those who believed in him were later to receive. Up to that time the Spirit had not been given, since Jesus had not yet been glorified." - John 7:38-39

"Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God" - John 1:12

"And you also were included in Christ when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation. Having believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God's possession–to the praise of his glory." - Ephesians 1:13-14

"Now it is God who makes both us and you stand firm in Christ. He anointed us, set his seal of ownership on us, and put his Spirit in our hearts as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come." - 1 Corinthians 1:21-22

Wind doesn't need to blow, tounges do not need to be spoken. Sometimes, that happens, but not all the time. You don't need to feel the Spirit any more than you need to "feel" forgiven or saved. What God promised in His word is true, whether you believe it or feel it or not. Therefore you should believe what He promised, no matter how reasonable your doubts seem to you. God does not change along with your feelings (James 1:17), His love for you never will. It would serve you well to memorize Romans 8:31-39. NOTHING has the power to separate us from the love of Christ.

"What, then, shall we say in response to this? If God is for us, who can be against us? He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all–how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things? Who will bring any charge against those whom God has chosen? It is God who justifies. Who is he that condemns? Christ Jesus, who died - more than that, who was raised to life - is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us. Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? As it is written: “For your sake we face death all day long; we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered.” No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord." - Romans 8:31-39

Ic3 : I appreciate your understanding of the Truth. As soon as we accept Jesus Christ into our hearts in all sincerity and humbleness and repent of our sins wholeheartedly we have a small measure of Holy Spirit in us. It is like having little water in a cup/glass. We still need to be filled with the Holy Spirit. Therefore, we need to hunger and thirst for the Holy Spirit Filling (or Baptism of Holy Spirit) and ask Lord Jesus Christ wholeheartedly in order to recieve the Baptism of Holy Spirit. After we are Baptized in the Holy Spirit, we are like a cup/glass which is full of water and overflowing. This experience every christian ought to have in order to live the christian life as s(he) should.

We can directly ask Lord Jesus Christ to lay hands on us and fill us with the Holy Spirit. I recieved the Baptism of Holy Spirit after i asked for it in prayer and started thanking. praying and worshipping God in a Christian meeting where other christians were also praying and waiting to recieve the Baptism of the Holy Spirit. A Man of God, whom i was close to, recieved the Baptism of Holy Spirit in his home itself. If we have recieved the Baptism of the Holy Spirit then you can and will recieve too. It is a tangible experience and a supernatural experience which will greatly strengthen your faith and your christian walk. And you can get filled with the Holy Spirit when no one is praying for you because this is between you and God alone. Ofcourse, if other people pray for us, it is good, i don't deny that.

Some of the Christians don't believe this and never hunger or thirst nor ask for the Baptism of Holy Spirit and hence they don't recieve the Baptism of Holy Spirit. They do have the small measure of Holy Spirit in their hearts which is sufficient for them to go to heaven but they are not having the full measure of the Holy Spirit in them which will make them live the Christian life as they should.

I would also quote a saying of a Man of God "It is easy to be filled with the Holy Spirit but difficult to stay filled with the Holy Spirit". I hope this will make you understand how seriously you need to safeguard your Holy Spirit Anointing.

We also need to grow in the Word of God and be strongly rooted and grounded in the Word of God as it is the Lamp unto our feet and Light unto our path.

A Man of God gave this simple but wonderful example. If Holy Spirit is the Engine and Word of God are the Tracks then we are the Bogies of the Train. Imagine if we have the Tracks and don't have the engine. And imagine if we have the Engine and don't have the Tracks. So, we ought to equal importance and emphasis to the Word of God and Holy Spirit in order that we may live a balanced christian life.

May the Lord Jesus Christ fill you completely with the genuine Holy Spirit. Amen.

It has been a while since I have replied.
I just remembered this thread. After I started this thread, I fell from the Lord. I just left him out of my Life for a while. The Lord has drawn me in again, however. He has opened my eyes and has filled me with the Holy Spirit. I am now reading His word daily, and hope to read it all. Praise be to our AWESOME God! His name be exalted above all. My prayer now comes from my heart and is sincere. The Lord is Good!
I hope that God fills your heart with the joy that is in my heart right now! Praise be to God!
God Bless you! AMEN!

When you recieved Chirst into your life HIS hands were layed on you. and you HAVE recieved the Holy Spirit, you just have to learn to HEAR the Holy Spirit, What do you mean you ask?? let me give you an example, if you turned your stero on and walked a block away from your house you would know the stero was on only you couldnt hear it right? as you walk closer you may be able to begin to here it but cant make out what you are hearing as you get closer and closer it becomes clearer and clearer intill you can completly hear and understand it, so it is with being a christian at first we dont hear the Holy Spirit and as our walk becomes closer with God we begin to hear the Spirit and obay its guidance in our life, the closer our walk the louder and clearer we hear and understand, how do we improve our walk with God?? we improve it by learning and then living his WAY that Way is LOVE, God is Love , Christ our example of Love, and we the reflection--light of that Love, so to improve our walk with God we must learn Love, Love is defined in 1Cor.13:4-7 learn and live these 12 manners-- characteristics of Love and your walk will improve, your hearing and guidance of the Holy Spirit will improve. I cant pray for you to recieve the Holy Spirit because as a christian you already have but i am and will continue to pray for your understanding of Gods way to improve and for your walk to grow with God and from that understanding and in this you will then HEAR and Feel the Holy Spirit in your life , May God bless you in all you do.

How old were you when you first knew that you were alive? 3 or 4 years old maybe? So it is with the newborns in Christ. The Holy Spirit is in you now, but you have not realized it yet. But fear not, continue to read the Bible and think on Christ daily and you'll soon realize it after a while, so be patient and give it some time.
