Thank you.
 I see you have an athiesm icon. I thought athiests did not believe all that stuff. In that case it should make no difference to you if we decide to pray for you :p

In reality, I think you are searching for answers. I hope you find some of these answers here.

I would like to make a request that nobody pray for me. Please, I don't need your appeals to the Almighty. When you utter your nightly prayers, don't let my name trespass on your vocal chords. Your slumber should not be preceded by your well-wishing for my well-being, especially if it involves your spiritual authority. The creator and of the heavens and the supreme benefactor of humankind need not be bothered by your petitions for my benefit.

Thank you.
MAN! I am ROFL! Of course I'm going to pray for you now! Why did you post if you didn't want us to pray for you?!! Wait... OK. I just prayed for you.

I have a question for you: What brings an athiest to Christian boards? Curiosity or torment? I've just been dying to ask someone but couldn't figure out where to post my question. I'm sort of new to these boards and I'm just blown away by the athiest membership. I think it's awesome; but probably for a different reason than you. I'm really serious, not trying to be flip, I really want to know what drives an athiest to surf this site. Thank you!

I'm not sure what goodoldboy would say but I think it's God drawing them to a Christian Board. They may say something different but that's what I think. IMHO

Father, I come before you on behalf of goodoldboy, all Athiests and all other members this Forum and ask you to personally touch each one with your Spirit and Presence. Reveal yourself to them and draw them closer to you. In Jesus name, Amen....

Opps...I wasn't supposed to pray...:)

Why do you come here if you expect that Christians won't pray for you? It's puzzling to me. I think that secretly you want to answer God's knock. Don't ignore it.

By the way, I will pray for you...my friend.

Your Brother in Christ,
Eric

You are in my prayers and I do also agree that you are seeking attention but weather or not you are only God knows and well I pray for alot of people on this forum and well now your name has been added to my forever prayer list ;) if you do not want people to pray for you, you will not ask them not to pray for you expecially on a christian forum:).

OK, I know everyone is curious, so I'll explain why I asked everyone to not pray for me. It was NOT because I was secretly reaching out to God or searching for answers or anything like that. If you want to believe that, I won't argue with you, but I am telling it like I see it. I am on this board because I like to talk with people I disagree with.

It was mostly just for fun. And it conveys my attitude about prayer. I never ask anyone to pray for me, because I seriously think that prayer is one of the most useless things you can do for anybody who needs help. Yeah, it can make them feel a little better. It might even give them hope. But the important thing is that it does not do what Christians think it does. God is not swayed one way or the other by prayer. The effects of prayer are no more than the effects of placebo pills. Prayer can generate false hope, which can divert a person from doing what is directly useful to solving the problem.

There is an atheist forum that I frequent. There are people who have personal trouble on that forum, and when they talk about their trouble, they get love, encouragement and sound advice. The sound advice usually turns out to be the most helpful thing of all, in my estimate.

are not "Christians'. I don't doubt for a minute that on the board you describe warmth, support, and good wishes abound.

But to get back to this thread, ya' had to know that there would be such a response. I only know about the gaping hole of misery I was before I let God in my heart. I'm thankful for those that prayed for me, and for my great-grandfather who prayed for the generations after him. I believe that God honored his prayers and that's why I'm not lost like I was. I should'a been dead, a few times. But here I am. :D

I am sorry you feel that way. I just want you to know that however the extent that I disagree with you, out of respect for your wishes, I will not pray for you. I just want to inform you that God loves you unconditionally and is waiting for you to answer His call.
Thank you, Yamialpha, some Christians seem to think that certain rituals like praying can never be wrong at any time whatsoever. You seem to think outside that constrictive mindset, and that is certainly a good thing.
