ex-Westwitch, I am certainly glad to hear that. I said a prayer for you early this morning, as I get on my knees and start the day with the Lord in prayer.
You are on the start of a narrow path, but a path that leads ultimately to everlasting life in Heaven. I really recommend that your next step to be find a church that you like, and start your fellowship with other Christians. They will be your net when you fall, and your stick when you stumble. Don't be decieved if the devil makes you think that you should just be a Christian on your own...that makes it easier for him to divide and conquer. Go where you are supported by fellow Christians and they can help you.
That doesn't mean that you should desert your old friends. You can hopefully save your friend who is dying from aids. You can talk to your other friends about Christ. You can just be there for them if they want to know why you are suddenly so happy. But you will find that your old life and thoughts don't seem to hold much interest any more, you are now filled with the Holy Spirit, and unclean things will prick your concience now.
Last, but not least. Please don't be insulted by this, but without really knowing you and knowing what you felt and said, it's rather hard to know exactly.
Last night, you should have felt these things below, if you did not, you may want to discuss with a Christian exactly what it means to be saved.
1) That you believe Jesus did die on the cross as a sacrifice to save us from our sins, and that you accept his unselfish act as YOUR sacrifice to atone for your sins against God and others.
While #1 is all that is really required to be a Christain, it follows that you should also feel #2 because you now WANT to do better...
2) That you wish to follow Jesus for the rest of your life. What I mean by that is that you want to do what is right in the Lord, that you want to do your best to remain sinless and grow as a Christain. It doesn't mean that you will always be able to (we all stumble), but that you sincerely want that in your life.
At the very least, if you KNOW the answers to these questions right now, and they were both "yes", then you can later on shout at the devil when he tries to undermine your faith "Yes, I KNOW I was saved then, because I believed when I first accepted Christ as my Savior!"
Anyhow, I will continue to pray for you and uphold you to the Lord.
Cheers and God Bless!
