  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Hello. I am wondering if I belong...I guess I am a born again Christian...I want to be, but I keep messing up! :( It seems that it is hard to have a conversation with Him...how do you?

Hi, I would say that the very first place to begin is with the Lord. Open your heart to Him and tell Him what you just wrote to us. He already knows everything, but He wants you to be open and sharing with Him. If you desire a closer relationship with Him,tell Him that you are seeking that, and ask Him to lead you. Spend time every day reading His word, that is our spiritual food and how we get to know Him. Also spend time in prayer, just talk to Him telling Him what is on your heart.Don't forget to also give some quiet time in meditation of Him,so He can get a word in edgewise, to speak to us,LOL!

Think on everything He has done for you and in your life, and for others, and praise Him. it always seems to help to just think on all He has already done for us and continues to due for us. It would probably bless you to go to the testimonies threads on this site and read them, read some Psalms,a book like The Hiding Place by Corrie Ten Boom, how He was with her and her sister in the concentration camps in Germany. Also "God's Smuggler " by Brother Andrew and his time working for the Lord smuggling bibles behind the iron curtain, full of awesome accounts of how God can work miracles. Both of these books cannot fail to make your heart open to God's prescence. Listen to praise and worship songs for the message in them. Things like this all help,to know and Love Him.Ask Him to strengthen your thirst for His word and deepen your love, and to show you anything you need to change or get out of your life,so as to be in obedience to Him. This is something we all must continue to do.

Believe me,He is thrilled when we seek closer fellowship with him,and remember we grow stronger in our spiritual walk as time goes on. Just as we must cultivate a relationship with people in our life,we also must cultivate our relationship with the Lord,it takes effort or it grows stagnant and cold, meaningless. The more your love for Him grows, the more your obedience grows, and you must also ask for His strength. God Bless Your Journey Towards Him.:)   :prayer: :groupray:

I just caught up and made it here, thanks Lonnie....God knows just what we need and I agree positive words, prayerful minds and a praise on our lips is the way to go!

I practice His presence through my day listening to praise and worship cd's or christian radio while doing my chores, I simply love when I just stop washing the dishes with tears streaming down my face and raise my hands and face toward the heavens and worship Him!!! I also started a written journal today and have wrote in it 4 times already! I felt His presence when after writing in my journal reach for my bible and realized it was opened to Jerimiah 24:6-7
(6) For I will set mine eyes upon them for good and I will bring them again to this land: and I will build them and not pull them down: I will plant them and not pluck them up.
(7) And I will give them a heart to know me , that I am the Lord and they shall be my people and I will be their God, for they shall return unto me with their whole heart.

I too see Him through my kids, my 13 year old got out of bed to write what the Lord had put on his heart:cry: my 3 year old all of a sudden starts to sing Holy Is The Lord God Almighty, The Earth is Filled With His Glory:cry: Also my husband that isnt serving God right now (but will return) called today to tell me of a song he heard on the radio...a song about not missing the person when they are gone...he said it's more of a christian song than country (what he listens to) and that I would love it, and all I can say is THAT'S GOD!!!

I read the Bible every day. Sometimes what I am reading is hard to get through and I only seem to last 5 - 10 minutes in reading it, and sometimes I can't put it down, the words just seem to reach out and grab me.

And I like to listen to praise music. When I am not listening to it, I am singing it to my self. (My husband reminds me to sing to myself, I guess I am not the worlds best singer. :o )

I try to be in constant prayer with God, asking His guidance for the things I do from day to day. But sometimes it seems like I forget to pray and study His word and keep Him in my thoughts and when I finally feel the void, I spend a lot of time repenting because my relationship with Him is the most important thing in my life.

I am currently seeking His presence the following ways:

I practice Lectio Divina for about 20-30 minutes a day in the morning. This is reading and meditating on the Scriptures. I read the daily Mass scriptures when doing this.

I attend Mass 4-5 times a week, to receive our Lord.

I go to confession once every two weeks, to make sure my soul is cleansed to receive my Lord properly.

I make at least one holy hour a week in front of the Blessed Sacrament, however I want to increase this, because I absolutely love adoration.

I pray the Rosary every night before I go to bed.

I just joined the Knights of Columbus with a couple of my friends, and I want to get involved in the ministry to the poor that they are involved in.

I go every Saturday morning to an abortion clinic to pray and sidewalk counsel.

Wow! that is awesome, I would love to hear about this in more detail....I havent a clue to what Mass scriptures are or the Blessed Sacrament or the Rosary.....forgive my ignorance:blush: I am interested in your rituals, thanks;)

Dear friends

This for me is the best thread on the forum why because it encourages us to grow in relationship with Jesus. I confess I've been struggling with my faith for many years looking for an 'experience' with God to make everything ok. Thank God for His patience because recently He has begun to show me the importance of telling Him everything and how to live in daily fellowship with Him I am in the learning process and find your sharing a real blessing and encouragement. Please continue to share these things.

May the Lord bless and encourage you all as you seek Him. Remember His promise, you will find Me when you seek Me with all of your heart.

Yup. You all have probably seen the picture of JESUS knocking on the door. Hopefully someone has pointed out that there is no door knob. HE can't get in unless we open the door for HIM. HE longs to talk with us but HE can't if we don't make time for him (and we can do that no matter how busy we are. First thing when we get up or laying waiting for sleep. Or standing in line or waiting for a red light or a trafic jam etc. HE is always with us waiting for us to start a conversation with HIM. I do that by praying something like. JESUS i love YOU i am basking in YOUR presence what would you have me learn? Sometimes i "hear" HIM talking to me other times i just sit with HIM and feel HIS love surround me.

I have been so aware of His Presence these past couple of days...and I'm a little hesitant to type this BUT feel the need to share it.........most of you know I have a 3 year old that is very energetic and talks all the time, well when I am in the process of asking him to do something and he justs keeps on talking and messing around I have felt frustration build up but instead of getting angry I turned to God praying in the Spirit and I am amazed at how fast my little one jumps to attention and starts doing what he is told  I asked him tonight why that is and he said "because of God"

That's great Tammy
I say the following in faith, even through I feel somewhat weak today
Jesus, many things seek to take us away from You. Please assure us today that you are with us, thank you for Your love Increase our desire to come to you even at those times when we find it difficult. Thank you for your promise 'Come to me, all who are weary and burdened and I (Jesus) will give you rest.
