I am currently seeking His presence the following ways:

I practice Lectio Divina for about 20-30 minutes a day in the morning. This is reading and meditating on the Scriptures. I read the daily Mass scriptures when doing this.

I attend Mass 4-5 times a week, to receive our Lord.

I go to confession once every two weeks, to make sure my soul is cleansed to receive my Lord properly.

I make at least one holy hour a week in front of the Blessed Sacrament, however I want to increase this, because I absolutely love adoration.

I pray the Rosary every night before I go to bed.

I just joined the Knights of Columbus with a couple of my friends, and I want to get involved in the ministry to the poor that they are involved in.

I go every Saturday morning to an abortion clinic to pray and sidewalk counsel.

ok, i'm kind of drawing a blank here because i'm not used to thinking like this.

i feel God's presence in many different settings--during worship and praise at church, during "serving hearts" at church when He helps me--an introvert--come out of my self to make others feel at home by greeting them,(AKA 'The introvert's nightmare") when counseling my group members, when preparing my lessons or worship music for the lessons, or during intercessory prayer which i do a lot of. (not that i'm so great at it but because i know the need.)

but i also feel Him in the grocery store, in the parking lot at Wal-mart, when driving somewhere new, when walking, when i see an especially beautiful sunset, every time i open God's word, or watch biblical movies. i feel Him when i read testimonies from the mission field, when discovering my Christian ancestors, when looking at the nighttime sky, and even when listening to the frogs and crickets at night.

I don't always think of God, but i know that He thinks of me.

You do start the nicest threads, positive feeling threads. There is so much negative feeling in the world today that the positive thoughts are refreshing. I still think God spent a little more time on you, and maybe on all of us. Probably all of us have down times, not so good times, but it is God who gets us through those times. And I think that a lot of those times He gets us through with the help of other people, that's where He is, in other people. I know that when I need some help, somebody calls or visits or emails or PMs and there is God:groupray:

I just saw this post

I'm not a person to often feel the presence of Jesus. To be honest I'd had a awful day but as i wrote a prayer for someone on another forum earlier The Holy Spirit sholwed me it is as we focus on who Jesus is and what He has done that we can know His Presence. Being inHis Presence brings forgiveness healing and release, Jesus is the same today as He was yesterday and will be forever Amen

Hello. I am wondering if I belong...I guess I am a born again Christian...I want to be, but I keep messing up! :( It seems that it is hard to have a conversation with Him...how do you?
+you especially belong!!

Welcome to all who have joined!!

JESUS wants to talk with you. so how to have a conversation with HIM. There are many ways. i will tell you three. For Catholics we love to sit in HIS presence in Adoration and either just be very quiet or have a conversation with HIM we often leave it up to HIM

Another way is to take a bible to a very quiet place and slowly read praying all the time.

then wherever you are just talk with HIM HE is always with you!! driving a long ways alone talk with HIM (maybe even out loud - i love to talk with HIM outloud) Trafic jams; red lights; standing in line are all especially good places/times to talk with JESUS!!

I acknowledge Christ daily, that why I chose the username day2day.I need Him Daily, all day,and everyday.I am nothing without Christ. I can't do this thing, we call life without Jesus.

:amen: AMEN sister! Ain't that true!

It really is interesting to see how people have chosen to "Practice His Presence" as Lonnie so aptly called it. Personally my hubby and I go to daily Mass at 7am before work every day. Then we say a rosary - which is meditative prayer on various scenes in the life of Christ, and then I pray the Liturgy of the Hours morning prayer for that day (which basically consists of a hymn, about 5 Psalms, 2 Canticles from the New testament, a bible reading, an Our Father, 3 specific prayers relating to the Psalms or the saint of the day, and finally various intercessory prayers for general things like world poverty, the Church, world governments, etc. All Priest and religious people will be praying this same morning prayer - it changes every day - so we join our voices accross the Earth as One to Glorify God :groupray: ).

I suffer from terrible temptations to laziness... I'm always struggling to be disciplined in my prayer life, so this is why I bunch up all my prayers and devotions first thing in the morning! HaHaHa! (Except of course the nightly Act of Contrition and night prayers with my hubby). I also attend Monthly confession, Third Order Franciscan meetings, and meetings with my Spiritual Director. I praise the Lord for all the great help the Church offers to us who battle with discipline! :D My Spiritual Director visits are the highlight of my month, because he listens to all my worries and fears and helps me to balance Formal prayer with spontaneous mental prayer and is always encouraging meditative prayer, which is the hardest one for a lazy mind like mine! :D

By St. Francis De Sales "Introduction to the Devout Life" published in the year 1608:

"There are four chief means of placing yourself in the presence of God. The first of which consists of a keen and attentive realizing of God's omnipresence; that He is in all and everywhere: that there is no place nor thing in the world where He is not; so that, as the birds, let them fly where they will, always meet the air, so we, let us go where we will, be where we will, shall always be where God is.

We all know this as an intellectual truth, but we do not always receive and act upon it. A blind man does not see his sovereign, but if he is informed of his presence he maintains an attitude of reverence: yet not seeing the object of respect he easily forgets that it is present, and so forgetting soon loses his reverence. So with us, we do not see God, and although faith warns us that He is present, yet not seeing Him with our own eyes we soon forget it and act as though He were afar off. For though as a mere matter of reasoning we know that He is everywhere, if we do not think about it, the result is the same as if we did not know it.

For this reason, we should always, before we pray, excite our souls to an attentive recollection of the presence of God."
I like the pictures he makes in my mind of the birds and the air and the blind man :)
