  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Alex followed the crowd out of the school. He walked to the door way but before exiting, decided to try something. Maybe i can make the weather do what ever I want.

Suddenly, it stopped raing. Alex walked outside.

That wasnt hard at all. I barely had to do anything. this is awsome. Maybe this day isn't so bad after all. Wait til I tell Mike. He's gonna flip.

Wait... let me try it again. What else can I try??
Ohh, Let me try to make the wind blow those papers off the ledge.

The wind swirled in front of Alex and blew the papers right off the ledge.

COOL!!

Alex looked around and watch the reaction of the people as they realized the rain had suddenly stopped. He stasrted to laugh out loud to himself. He couldn't believe it.

He scanned the front lawn for Mike and saw him close by. He was talking to Kate, a total teacher's pet. Alex ran over.

"hey Mike!! Kate. You are never gonna believe what I'm gonna tell u. And its not just about this awsome prank i thought up on the buss this morning. Its even better!!"

"Dude!" Mike said, ignoring Kate's eye rolling. "What is it?"

Kate already knew what he was going to say, so she walked off, got into her beat-up pickup truck, and drove off. Not home; Mom won't expect me until later. There's nothing to do there, anyway. Bookstore. I'll go to the bookstore.

She pulled into the parking lot, got out, locked her car, and headed inside. Once there, she sat down and began doing her homework.

Jake was furious. He had seen the fine they left and it was BIG. Four-hundred and thirteen dollars. It would take two months with the pay he got! He decided to sit down and practice Telekineses. He walked home and closed his eyes. He noticed a thumbtack in the wall, a good target. He shut his eyes and pictured it moving into his hand.
"Yowwchh!" He screamed when he accidentally pricked his finger in misdirection. "Jake, are you okay?" His mother intruded. "Mom...."

Kate finished her homework within an hour and a half, leaving her with plenty of time before she had to get home. Looking around for anyone she might know, she walked over to a shelf few "Teacher's Pets" dared to approach in broad daylight, quickening her pace as she walked, as if pursued by one of those mysterious dark figures that seem to love dark alleyways.

Once there, Kate crouched down and scanned the different titles until she found what she wanted. She pulled several books off the shelf and stood, looking around, then glanced around for anyone she knew. Smiling to herself, Kate went back to her chair and sat down. Finally, she would find out what happened to poor tormented Batman!

((Sorry for the late intro post all!! What season is it roughly? I figured if it was raining then it was springish...correct me if I'm wrong.))

Jenny groaned and pulled the covers back over her head as the sunlight streamed through the partly open curtains in her room.

"That's odd," she thought, rolling over so her back faced the intruding light, "Wasn't it raining earlier this morning? It was perfectly clear out last night, and it seems to have cleared up rather quickly now too."

Jenny was glad that her parents let her stay home sick today. There was no way she would've made it through school today. She'd stayed out last night trying to find a family of bats that she had gotten to know since last spring. They'd been mostly hiding over the winter, but Jeny thought they'd be out and around by now. She sniffled, reaching her hand out in efforts to find a kleenex, which was unsuccessful.

"Hey! Hey Jenny!" Quirk the guinea pig asked excitedly, "Are you awake? Huh? Are you awake? I saw you move...does that mean you're awake?" He ran from one side of his cage to the other, then climbed up on his platform to get a better look.

"Probably..." replied Speed the turtle.

"...not." replied Dash the turtle, finishing Speed's sentence.

Jenny smiled a little, yawned, and cuddled into her pillow as she dozed off again.

"Are you serious?" Rachel asked in disbelief, "Sure, the one time I don't have to be in school and it shuts down for the day. Freaking sweet." She paused to listen to her friend on the other end of the phone as she contied down the hall toward the front doors. "Yeah," she replied, "Sounds good. I'm just leaving now so I should be there in about half an hour or so, give or take traffic." Rachel smiled and snapped her cell phone shut just as she reached the front door.

Walking across the college parking lot, she pondered what must've made the lights go out suddenly, and why she had to miss it. It was a nice day out, even though it had been raining all morning. Rachel unlocked her black '02 Dodge Neon and threw her backpack onto the back seat. It ended up taken her just over forty minutes to get to the Pink Flamingo Coffee House.

Rachel saw her friends sitting up on the deck overlooking the front of the building of the old house-turned-coffeehouse. She grinned as she turned to park behind the building. Grabbing her backpack, she locked her car doors and headed inside. As soon as she put her hand on the corner of the house to make the turn, it was like the whole wall within a three-foot radius around her hand became transparent.

"Hmmm..." she thought to herself, "It's a little crowded today. Hope they saved me a chair." As soon as she took her hand off the wall, it was its old self again. She walked in, ordered and Irish Creme White Mocha with whipped cream, and climbed up the stairs to the second floor where she found her friends sitting outside.

"Now that it's stopped raining, it's a really nice day out," one of them said happily before they saw and greeted Rachel.

"I agree," Rachel replied, "But you guys need to tell me about what happened in school today!" They all laughed as her friends recounted the day's events to her over their hot drinks.

((I guess they're all in the same school, then??))

Chrissy was sitting in the health room when the lights went out. Going along with her preppy attitude, she screamed stood up. Stacy and Barbra did the same, following her lead. The teacher took out a flashlight and turned it on. The rain clouds outside blocked out the sun, leaving them in total darkness. They were dismissed from class, but Chrissy stayed inside. She had just straightened her hair that morning and didn't want it to frizz under the moisture. She pulled out her cell and sent a few texts telling some other popular girls and guys to meet her at the diner down the street. She was about to take on the rain with her hood, when it suddenly stopped.Huh, odd.

She walked out the door and hopped into her mini pink convertible. Time for some fun. It had been a while since all of them had gotten to hang out all together.

"Jenn! I'm making lunch! Are you up for eating something?" her mom called from the stairs.

Jenny yawned and let her eyes slowly open. Her pets jumped for joy and greeted her. She half smiled as she sat up in bed and sniffled again, noticing that it was barely afternoon yet.

"Food sounds good," she mumbled as she grabbed a black zip-up hoodie and put it on over her pajamas.

"Food always sounds good!" Quirk agreed, going over to his food bowl and digging around.

Jenny just smiled and walked out of the room, sniffling again.

-----------------------------------------------

"Oh wow, look at what time it is!" Rachel exclaimed, looking at her cell, "I've got to be to work!"

She left her cup on the table and ran down to her car, quickly driving to the other end of town. She parked her car in the small parking lot and made her way into the building.

"I'm glad you're feeling better, sweetie," Jenny's mom said as her daughter appeared in the kitchen. Jenny simply grunted a reply, still not fully awake.

Her mom had made creamy chicken soup with grilled cheese sandwiches. Jenny sat down and munched slowly on her lunch while her mom opened a window in the living room.

"It's really starting to get nice outside!" her mom said with a happy sigh, "I thought that rain was going to last all day. It seem to be coming down pretty heavy."

Jenny grunted an affirmitive reply through a mouthful of sandwich. Having warm food inside her was making her feel a lot better, and she was hoping her mom would let her get out of the house a bit yet today.

"Hey Jenny!" a bird landed on the open windowsill, unnoticed by Jenny's mom, "Jenny, guess what I heard! The building you all go into everyday? Well, it closed down and everyone left. It happened only a short time ago. Something about it being dark inside."

It had taken Jenny years to fingure out what many of the animals she talked to were trying to tell her, but she got to the point where she could figure it out enough. She turned to say something to the bird, but seeing her mom reminded her to keep her mouth shut. No one else knew that she could talk to animals, and she wanted to keep it that way. Instead, she just brushed a stray piece of her silvery blonde hair away from her face and nodded to the bird before taking another bite of her sandwich.

"You should really call up someone to see what homework you got today," her mom chimed in, "I know school won't be over for another few hours, but maybe you could texted one of your friends so they could get it before they leave."

Jenny smiled.

----------------------------------------------

Rachel grabbed her vest and walked into the back where she punched in. Having an almost full-time job could be annoying at times, but at least she didn't feel like she had to mooch off of anyone, including her parents.

Looking at the schedule, she silently cheered. Inventory. That means sitting in the backroom stocking shelves and cleaning up stuff. Well, it was more than that, but it was an easy day nonetheless. Rachel wouln't even have to change out of her jeans today, which was another plus.

Still smiling, she put her hand on the wall next to the time clock and watched as a large portion of the wall disappeard. She looked ot see in anyone was in the office today. She smiled again, seeing two of the cooler assistant managers chatting it up and doing almost no work. As long as the cooler AMs were working, this would be the best day of the week for Rachel. She just wished she could here better when looking through objects.

Taking her hand off the wall, it returned to normal and she quickly made her way to the stockroom. Not only were the two cooler AMs working, but so was Tony and Gail, two of the coolest cashiers ever. Work went by almost too quickly.

Chrissy drove out of the parking lot and turned on her radio. Justin Timberlake's voice echoed out. She pulled her shades off her head and over her eyes and smiled. She must look so cute right now!! She drove down and passed by the bank turning to look at herself in the reflective windows. Wow was she hot!!! She was so preoccupied, she didn't even hear the horn. She barely had time to scream beofre the the minivan plowed into the side of her pink convertible.

When the power went out, Amy sighed and went to teh bike wrack. She unlocked her transportation. Her parents would understand if she came home early. Well, either that, or they would scold her for not staying...She shook her head and rode to the library, passing several kids with thier cars.
