My family counsellor suggested that we start training so we've begun!

She's having fun with it; we clap and dance and cheer when she makes it and say, "that's ok, you can try again next time" when she doesn't.

Situtation: I take Meaghan out for about an hour and a half in the morning walking around town and in the park and again usually for the same amount of time in the late afternoon.

No toilets around of course. So I'm wondering, should I lessen our outings until she's more used to the training or should I just toss some pull- ups on and forget it? Or, do I still put her panties on when we go out and sort of "go in the bush" and bring another pair for accidents?

What did you do?

Also, we usually have a full day outing once a week, which includes two one hour rides in the car - what should I do that day?

At this early stage I'd put her undies on with a pull up over top of it...that way she'll feel wet if she has an accident which will encourage her to not have accidents but it won't embarrass her by leaving her with wet pants! Then you can always just change the undies and pull ups!

Try to encourage her to go potty before leaving the house, then put on a pull up and go have fun. The process of training usually takes some time, I'd say go on with your routine, ask her if she has to go when you have the chance and have fun. Don't let pt chain either of you to the house.

BTW, how old is she?

She just turned two.

She's having a great day so far- she made it in the potty 8 times so far including a bm and only 2 misses.

Thanks for all the practical advice ladies- makes a lot of sense!
