  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

hello!

does anybody know how to make them? when i visited Scotland with uni, we had them for one breakfast. i had it with bacon and tomato but i could also imagine eating them with honey or something. ive been craving them from then on!

i need to make the recipe for two (well, or even for myself) mainly sometimes for four.

thanks for any help :D

(also do you think i can get away with making them during camping?)

You could always just buy them :p Much easier.

I'm the black sheep of the tatie scone fraternity. I prefer them just out the pack as opposed to fried. But here's the link to the recipe anyway, there are other variations on google.

Mmmmm tattie scones! I'm another of those who like them straight from the pack, but I can see how they'd go well with a fried breakfast (drools). If you go along to the supermarkets around the early evening you can often pick them up, reduced to 9p or some other ridiculously cheap price.

mmm

Roll and egg and scone. mmmm

Of course our friends from Ulster will try to tell you that tattie scones are in fact potato bread, but don't listen, they just learned how to make them from the Ulster scots anyway, so what do they know! ;)

Don't tell my wife! ;) ;)

I have to firstly point out, on behalf of all the Irish out there, that they are in fact called potato bread...

Make sure and let us know how they get on with honey & things. I've only ever had them fried (nothing like a good old Ulster fry!), and to be honest the thought of them any other way just seems wrong, but I could be tempted to try it

Is there actually a difference between the tattie scone and potato bread?

They're exactly the same thing, made the same way, just a difference in opinion over the name.

I think they are called scones because they are cooked on a skillet over heat as opposed to in an oven, which his how ordinary scones used to be made before everyone had ovens.

YAyyyyyy! Tattie scones all the way! ^_^

See from your profile you go to Bangor Elim. We drive past it every time we go to see my father in law at his work - he has a kitchen and appliance showroom just off the Balloo Rd. (He says Potato bread too! )

you should go some night!!

It looks scary (as it bigish for NI) but its not at all, the pastors are absolutley brilliant.

I know where that showroom is!!!

POTATO BREAD!!!!!

I maybe will give it a look sometime, although we are not over as often as we should be!

Looks great, I was having a nose on the website earlier on.

Showroom is called B&D Kitchens / Appliance 2000, I worked there for a summer just before we got married.
