  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Post something edifying:)

It would be good to get back to the important things... so.. post something which has helped you this week.
It can be a scripture, a song, something someone said, a quotation, anything at all which God has used to speak to you.

I'll start with this song...

This is my prayer in the desert
When all that’s within me feels dry
This is my prayer in my hunger and need
My God is the God who provides

And i will bring praise, i will bring praise
No weapon formed against me shall remain
I will rejoice, i will declare
God is my victory and He is here

This is my prayer in the fire
In weakness or trial or pain
There is a faith proved of more worth than gold
So refine me Lord through the flame

Someone else may know who wrote it... we sing it in church sometimes.

I had an awesome time of prayer with the Lord yesterday.
It's also been really great to feel Him working in my life
and answering some prayers I had asked awhile back.

Just knowing He's still there and working.

Some of my favorite passages:

Matthew 11:28-30
"Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light."

1 Corinthians 15:58
Therefore, my dear brothers, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.

Galatians 6:9-10
Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.

I could use a little of that right now.

Oh sure =)
I can't go into specific detail, but you know how sometimes it
feels like God isn't even there or is displeased with you? . .

I had been praying that He would change me and work in me,
but you don't think He's working until you see something
weeks or months later. It seemed like He was doing nothing
(or I was doing nothing/going nowhere) but then you see an
area where He had been working.

Just things you see later in time and don't notice. & in the
meantime, you feel like your just drifting in space. :|

I can for sure see how spiritual growth is a long process.
and how true that we're "sheep" - we hinder alot of our
progress and cant' see ahead of us.
Amazing how God is so true.

Praying that you will find it, brother.

thank you.

I am not having some tragedy or anything, I am just having a hard time shaking some vices (sin) that I know are wrong and are keeping me from being closer to God...and it makes me angry and ashamed, because I need to get these at least under control so I can move on to other sin I have in my life.

I am really big on the "live by example" rule especially now since I have gotten very serious in church involvement and Bible study....I just look in the mirror sometime sand see a big ole hypocrite and I get PO'd (cussing is one of my vices).

Sure was a whole lot of "I" "I" "I" in my response wasn't it?
eh, don't worry about that, sometimes we have things we're
dealing with and "I" is appropriate.

But always good to be aware to notice that ;)

As far as your post content, that kind of stuff has always led
me to into doubting my salvation eventually - it's a horrible place to be in.
I keep one thing in mind, thank God that we still have conviction
about it.
It's conviction of sin that chips away at us that lets us know
we're not of the world - they don't live in that type of conviction
for sin until God is working them over.

It's a blessing, but some things are super tough to dump.
In my personal opinion, we almost always have something
we're failing on, but that sure never excuses things.

Just to encourage you brother, in our own strength we are total hypocrites. But we take comfort knowing that it is God's righteousness, by God's power, changing us. He WILL COMPLETE His good work in you!

Nadiine - I sure know those feelings. Thankyou for sharing. It is so encouraging to hear other Christians being encouraged, you know? Like I feel a measure of my sisters joy!

Whoa! I been there for most of my Christian life....Terrible place and not where God wants us. Have to fight against the "beating up self," very hard but must be overcome.....

I found Joyce Meyers "Battlefield of the Mind" and "Beauty for Ashes" and Charles Stanley "When the Enemy Strikes" as quite helpful resources in learning how to combat that spiritual stronghold.....

Agreed, it's important to just keep in mind "conviction" and make the distinction so as to not slip down into "condemnation."

For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh. For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ, and being ready to punish all disobedience when your obedience is fulfilled.
