• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

I'm overjoyed to see all of you who posted when you felt like cutting and the prayers of the other viewers, this is exaclty what I'm talking about...when you feel like cutting having someone to talk to and especially to pray for you can really make a difference...keep them going!
I'm on this computer pretty often...feel free to pm me even if you just want to talk about silly stuff...you can't turn your brain off, but you can distract it till you feel better ;0

My dear sister,

Asking Jesus to be the Lord of your mind and thought is the beginning. Jesus can remove all bad thoughts and give his thoughts instantly. But he wants to you have the joy of doing God's work. He wants you to be able to cherish his thoughts once they enter in your mind.

Let me give you an analogy. Say two boys got the same toy from their parents. One boy was at a toy store with his parents. He found the toy and said, "I want that toy," and the parents bought it for him.

The other boy wanted the same toy. But his parents told him to earn points from doing house chores. With some sweats and after doing what he didn't want to do (like folding laundry, making the bed, etc), he earned enough points. The parents took him to a toy store and bought it for him.

Which boy will cherish the toy more? Which boy is less likely to lose the toy? Didn't the boy who earned points also benefit from folding laundry, making the bed, washing dishes, and become a better son?

Did the boy who earned points actually earn the money to buy the toy? No, he didn't have the money. However hard he tried, he wouldn't be able to save enough money for the toy. He got the toy with no money of his. He received the toy free. But during the process, he became a better son.

Jesus wants to give all of his thoughts to you right now. But he wants you to "earn" his thoughts, which are in fact gifts that you (none in fact) cannot get on your own.

In John we find the following conversation between the Jews and Jesus.

What must we do to perform the works of God?

This is the work of God, that you believe in him whom he has sent.

Believing Jesus is doing God's work. Reading his words in John and Mark is doing his work. Thinking about "what would Jesus do?" is doing God's work. So is praying for yourself and others.

Slowly, his thoughts will enter your mind, (and as his thoughts enter your mind, bad thoughts will re displaced) and you will cherish his thoughts as the most precious treasures (because you sweated for them!), and you will want more of him. It is the principle of "earning" his gifts, becoming his disciple.

Do not be discouraged by the fact that your prayer didn't seem to work. It has already started working. Jesus is making his angels and servants ready to assist you. I hope you to consier me as one of his errand boys to prepare you for his great gift.

i am barely hanging on right now. I haven't cut for 6 days. But I really really want to at the moment
Six days without cutting! That's great, Sista! Hang in there. One more day! Read other threads and posts. I find all of them very encouraging.

Folks, pray for her, sing for her, send PM's to her.

Thanks Rupert, but I just cut, about a hour ago. I am sorry.

The awful thing is it didn't really help, and I want to do it again.

You are right. It really doesn't help. It only makes you want to cut again. Now you know the Devil's trick; don't fall into the deception again.

A believer does not look back. He only looks forward and follows the footsteps of Jesus. Start reading his words. Our goal is to find who Jesus is and how great his love for me is. Tomorrow I am fasting for you.

My dear little sister,

Though it may be difficult for you to see, I believe I need to explain this to you. You were not born with the desire to cut. You allowed it into your thought when you cut first. Since it came on your invitation, it will not go away without a fight.

Each urge is its challenge to you. You need to win each fight. You have won all the fights for 23 days. The urge is putting up its 24th day challenge. Are you ready to fight this fight? I know you are, and I know you want to. I am fasting today for all of you. It isn't big a deal that I fast. But that's all I can do for you. I am doing my best. Do your best in support of me, I ask.

I feel like cutting right now. I don't know why. I just feel sad all of the sudden... I thank You for the sky, I thank You for my Mom, I thank You for my sister, my brother, all of my family... I thank You for music, I thank You for flowers and snow and everything good. I thank You for my friends on Christian forums, I thank you Father that you love me and care about me, that you sent you only son to die and rise again for me. I thank You for Your tender mercies, I thank You for Your loving kindness. I thank You for my puppy Mercy. I thank You for watching over me. For helping me daily. For helping me live. I thank You for our apartment for not many always have a home, I thank You for the food You give us for nourishment for many have very little, I thank You for Christmas for peace and hope was born, I thank You for beauty. I thank You that I am never alone. I thank You that You always provide a way out for us. I thank You for Your Holy Spirit. I thank You for Your Holy word. I thank You for being my Father, for being there for me, for never deserting me. I thank You for Spring, Summer, Winter, and Fall. I thank You for all that You have done, are doing, and will do in my Life. I thank You for all who seek out Your will in their lives. I thank You for those who are struggling as I am to do the right thing. I thank You for hearing me in my distress and for holding me in Your arms. I thank You for the stars Father, I thank You for the sea. I thank You for poetry and self expression. I thank You that we are in a country that is free. I thank You for our leaders. I thank You for Your Holy Kingdom, Your Holy angels... I thank You for always protecting me and comforting me. I thank you for being the Lord of the universe and the restorer of my soul. Be with me now oh Lord. I thank You for this day and days to come. In Jesus name, Amen.

 That's wonderful lily! Somehow when we praise God we really do feel so much closer to him, and are able to fight off the Devil! That's why I like to sing praise and worship music at the top of my lungs when I feel down, I'm glad you've found a way to connect with God and triumph over those temptations! Stay strong girl and keep praising him!!!

I praise you Lord for helping lily find a way to you and for helping her out of her needful situation. I thank you Lord for all you have done to protect us and I pray you would help all the christians who SI to experience this same kind of deliverence!:amen:
