I lived in England for 5 years and I used to work in Beckenham. I remember some people at my church adopted and fostered. Thanks for sharing & God bless you & keep you always Anthony.Photo from the Devon and Exeter Crematorium, the resting place of my natural father whose ashes were scattered there in the late 1970's.
When I was very young, I was placed into the care system and lived in a children's home for most of my childhood, well over a decade. My mother could not take care of me due to her severe mental health problems and neither could my father who was so desperately ill with a terminal illness. Even today I cannot imagine the pain and suffering my father went through, but I remember him walking me to the sweet shop and getting sweets for me - a tube of Smarties which he knew I loved. I remember the time he tried to look after and nurse we when I had a broken nail and tried to look after it and nurse it. He watched over me and cared for me with such precision and detail. I remember the many times he carried me on his shoulders in the most horrendous of weather conditions to the children's home making sure I was protected and I was safe. En-route I would often lose control of my bladder, yet he was so gentle and so kind, despite how weak and ill he was. He would often sit with me trying to teach me how to play board games such as chess and I am convinced, even to this day, that my love for music and piano playing comes from him who was such a great pianist.
