Oh yeah, if you look at my Grandma's eyebrows, you'll see that's where I get mine from...she's half Italiana.

You know, when they ask me that on those officious looking papers, I either mark "Rather not Say" or "other"...or, if they really try to force me into it, I check the "Mixed Race" box.

I'm not even sure what race is...other than the human race.

I know my nationality is American.

They also have the "White non-Hispanic" option too, so I guess they are attempting to make a distinction between Whites that have mixed with "Indians" and those who haven't.

I don't know, you know me, I don't buy into all the scientizing.

I am American born and raised and through belief I am grafted into Israel.

Now, I have ancestors from Spain, Italy, France, Ireland, Mexico (probably with some "Indian"), Puerto Rico (I believe), and I'm sure there are some others.

I am not really sure about my biological father's side. I do know that I met a cousin of his while in prison and he was Puerto Rican.

Some people would just simplify it into the word "Chicano".

But, my family is mixed and married into so many other "races", that it is becoming increasingly difficult to narrow us down.

*For instance, the picture of the graduation that I posted has my cousin and her Mother on the right which are all mixed up, with African as well.

Pretty much just central and northern European.

My Great Grandpa was straight from northern Italy and he used to have a goat's head in the fridge, jarred olives in a hidden basement, and he used to make wooden Dutch style shoes, so, who knows, he coulda been mixed too.

my biological father's side

His last name was Angeles.

I say "was", because as far as I know he died in prison.

I have my Mother's maiden last name.

The funny thing is, is that I heard that Spanish last names that end in 's' could be Sephardic (Jewish), and I have it from both sides...the 's'.

But, whether or not that's the case, it really means little. The blessing is that, my family has become more and more drawn to Messiah over the years...from being pretty materialistic and godless.

And all this loss we've experienced this year, has served to strengthen our faith.

So now, it seems, we are becoming twice family!

The real heritage that really matters is the family of faith!

That's why I call my fellow believers here brothers and sisters.

No color lines, no racial lines...One in Him!
