But everyone can love each other, that is was I believe.

For instance, I ran into someone I could hardly stand yesterday... I was surprised because I never really "clashed" with anyone so to speak... but talking a million miles per minute without stopping is kind of annoying. Still though, if her or anyone else ever came to my door whether it was her or Bin Laden and they were dying, I would help them... by calling the police, don't open the door!!!

I disagree with this as well. I do believe it's possible to "treat everyone as you want them to treat you"... but if I go around loving EVERYONE, what makes that love so special anymore? In other words, doesn't the concept of "love everyone" cheapen the whole idea of love?

Not really! Look at God. He loves all of us, and that idea has brought peace to so many people. We should be able to love one another, no matter what has been done. It only enhances the concept of it, it doesn't cheapen it at all.

Except those involved in religious wars, terrorized by theocracies, descriminated against for religious reasons, etc.

We should be able to love one another, no matter what has been done. It only enhances the concept of it, it doesn't cheapen it at all.

The best we can hope for at this juncture in human history is to be able to tolerate each other, which would be a first great step.

Toleration is a good first step. If everyone can't love each other though, then it can start one person at a time.

I would be lying if I said I like everyone I run into, but I do love everyone. it is hard to understand some across seas, fighting freedom, but I love them anyhow...

This was my very first thought.


But actually what you have suggested can be arranged, but not yet.

The requirement would be that everyone must be taught to identify "good" and the person to be liked must be seen as being more of that than anything else. Jesus came much closer than most, but the concept of what good is, was not specified well enough to have it taught to all people without objection.

This not being done requires that a person must hide from judgment "place the blood of the lamb on your door". But in the long run, even this tactic will fail.

You must learn of the details of the real Holy Spirit so as to accomplish what you have asked. After doing so, it will be hard to find anyone who is NOT liked.

Ah, I don't think I would like EVERYONE liking me, that would drive me crazy... now loving me is a different story, but all I need is Jesus's love. And Momma of course.

I HATE chocolate! I never eat my B-Day cake. One bite, give the rest to my family.

Implicitly, preconceptions are the problem; and it takes a long time, and infinite cleverness, to whittle down preconceptions to fair conceptions based in actuality. Thus, yes and no: it is possible for a person to be loved by everyone, even without putting up masks to fit the values or opinions or external standards espoused by various groups of people -- but, this would also take a long, long time, like four billion years or something. But, alas, we only live below three digits. Thus yes and no.

I think you make a good point. We don't have to like someone to love them. In the parable of the good Samaritan, the good Samaritan did not even know the victim he helped and could not therefore have either liked or disliked him. But in helping him Jesus said he was loving him as commanded by God.
