Good work with the watercolor, from the threads title (Portrait of Grimes). Before actually seeing the painting, i pictured a painting of some old English character.

Grimes is a model and Elon Musk's wife.

I'm surprised I know that, because it's not the sort of thing I normally keep tabs on.

Thanks! Yes I decided to switch to watercolor on normal paper instead of the yupo, and will focus on portraits for the next little while. I've been watching some Asian master demos on youtube and picking up some tricks. There are at least 3 who put out time lapses for portraits. I can post some links if interested. Some are subtitled in English but most are just set to music and fun to watch!

Ok thanks for the information. Do not keep up with Mr Musk, so even after seeing the painting was a girl, i still did not know who she was. I though she may have been a local girl Chris knew and was using as a model

The level of control on Arches vs. Yupo has to be considerable!

Sure I would like to see some of the tutorials. My wife and kids like watercolor, and gouache, even if I rarely get around to it.

One tip I picked up from the Asian masters is they paint the lids and flesh around the eyes before they paint the eyes. Seems counter intuitive but I like it much better.

j.hunsung is incredible both in quality and volume. Was following several top notch folks on Instagram for a while doing portrait work. Very inspiring.
