  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

The subject was brought up in the entertainment censorship thread as to why porn, and hentai specifically, is bad for you. I would liek to discuss this. My personal belief is no. My husband and I watch occasionally. It is something that spices our sex life up. I would like to know for those of you who say it leads to ... umm whatever evil it leads to (gasp not the porn demons!!!).. exactly what does it do to us??

Is porn bad for you? Nah. Sure, I can understand a moral or religious objection. But as far as making claims like "porn leads you to a life of sexual depravity, criminal activity, whatever", I don't buy it.

People have tried using the same arguments against things like video games, Harry Potter, Dungeons & Dragons, rock 'n roll music (among other forms of music), violence on TV, etc. Most of the time, it's nothing more than standard "FUD" tactics that are completely baseless.

That's my 2 cents on the subject.

Porn, is a slippery slope. One which allows one to enjoy themselves sexually without the need for a partner. Quick self service, just like going to get gas for your car. It's easy, it's convient, and doesn't require any foreplay or work to get started. Sure, let the TV get you hot, then you and your husband will be dependant on the movies, not at first but after months and years.

What you think is just happening with you in the bedroom, is also happening as a solo act by your husband. Before you know it, he isn't so needed of you as much.

Also if you are a Christian, would you invited Jesus over to watch a porno with you?

One of the main arguments against porn is that it dehumanises the women and men involved in it and treats them simply as objects. This then can lead to people viewing the opposite sex in general as objects.

I have no argument with the first part of the argument - pornography is inherently about creating objects out of people.

However, I am dubious as to the next step actually ever occuring in reality - perhaps it does but it must be very rare.

I have problems with the pornography industry in general, but mainly for its obviously exploitative and predatory nature.

My main objections to porn are moral and spiritual. Aside from that I find it distasteful, sick, stupid, and not worth my time. >_<

I have to leave in 10 minutes so I'm not saying anything now. I will post later though -^.^-

Well first off all, the people making these movies are commiting fornification. That's sin. I have watched it with my husband before. It does kinda do something to ya but I seriously I don't care for it. Actually, it is kinda disgusting to think that a couple or person can get off on watching others "doing it". It's the spirit of lust. My husband has always tried to hide movies and magazines from me. I always got mad because I'd rather watch it together but I don't feel that way now because he had to lie to me all 3 1/2 years we were married. He started looking at sites on the internet. Of course he believes in God but doesnt practice Christianity. He always wants sex and I think it's cause he is so lustful. I think people should not get involved with it because it is an addiction for a lot of people. One thing you can do is pray and ask the Lord to let you know what he thinks and then if you feel convicted then you'll have your answer.

I do not see how getting pleasure in an easy way is bad. This Christian anti-pleasure kick just keeps rolling along, even after 2,000 years.

I would not invite another person to watch porno with me unless they were a sexual partner, but that's just me. Jesus hung with prostitutes. I am sure he got dragged unwittingly into their conversations about their work. If he was like me, his ears would turn red.

its demoralizing because of several reasons. It objectifies people, it causes adiction to it resulting in antisocial behavior and can ruin relationships. If you're a christian, its against what the bible says.

objectifies? no more than when you are having sex with them. and addiction??? there are people who are addicted to washing their hands compulsively. it isnt the porn that is a problem with those people.

The only valid thought i have seen yet is from david gould. I agree with you, some of the young girls i see on those are so naive. and do we really thing the producers care about them? prolly not.

LOL That was funny but not funny. As a temple to the Lord, I think we should watch what we do inorder to walk closely and have a fulfilling relationship with God. Sin separtes us from God. Thankfully were forgiven but let's not knowingly repeat sins. I am sure the Lord will convict those that are searching for a deeper relationship.

Would you be able to give up everything if the Lord asked you to?

The "pleasure" isn't what is bad, it is the "ability" to used pornography and masturbation to the exclusion of the other mate. Because this is what most men (and women) will do if [1] the material is available and [2] they have the idle time.

Also a couple can grow dependant on pornography for their "best sex".

can someone show me some proof that there are people who prefer to have sex with their hands as opposed to their partners due to their interest in porn. Because so far that argument just sounds silly to me.

And even if they did, what is wrong with this?
