Ever seen someone cry when watching a soap opera? Ever seen a football fan jump out of their lazyboy chair and scream when their team scores a touchdown? You're stating this based on what? The site that @Belarius linked has studies to back up what's stated there. Our brains don't typically release chemicals in response to watching regular TV. Porn is more than "visual entertainment". It's much more complicated than that.
Every single thing a person does or experiences will affect a change of their neural pathways, and thus, change their brain in some way.
But that doesn't make football addicting.. It doesn't mean violet video games will make the person playing them a violet person, and it doesn't mean that porn will have an effect that is any more or less harmful then the effects of any of the above examples.
The people in this forum argue against porn on a moral and ethical basis, the claim that its harmful is just a desperate attempt to support the original argument. If you can't get them to agree on the morality, scare them with the adverse health effects. (I think there's a argument fallacy in there but don't remember what its called)
That doesn't make them valid resources of information..There's already been resources for you to check out to answer that (and both are free of religiously-driven information).
But here's something to consider.. Porn has been around and readily available for over 40+ years in one media form or another... If its so bad, where are all the people who are suffering from its effects? Internet porn is ubiquitous these days and we have 20+ years of it.. where are all the harmed people? In fact, porn is responsible for the youtube and other video's you see on the internet today. Did you know it was the pornographers who developed the technology for internet video? Did you know it was the porn industry who still develops many of the applications we use every day?
Its always funny to see someone preaching the harmful affects of porn using internet video technology that was developed by the porn industry..
The people who mostly object to pornography are those who object from a religious perspective.. and its their right to object and I'm fine with it.. They're welcome to object until they're blue in the face for all I care... but it would seem that the rest of the people do not agree.. even some (many or most?) from within their own ranks.
Just one thing to remember.... excessive indulgence in almost anything can have harmful affects. Even drinking too much water can be harmful.
