Time to interrupt the thread direction and get back to the original topic...

Well, I finally arrived back home, and tonight I had the first bag of Kettle Korn from Orville Redenbacker.

tasted good, but I will wait for two more bags this week to make the final decision.

Okay, now back to the diverted threat topic. :D

1) I have never tried kettle corn... that I know of. I don't even know what it is.

2) Used to think coke was better than pepsi, now I have reversed it and diet anything is awful so I don't have to worry about whether it is saccharin and I get cancer or if it is splenda and my body can't digest it. :D give me the sugar straight and sit down. Next? :D

3) Smoking is ok only when you date another smoker. ;) There is just something about the taste of smoke on someone else's lips that is just plain...

Name one cancer case caused by saccharin.

Doctors suggest it and Splenda over sugar or Aspartame because they don't raise blood sugar levels.

heh, calm down, calm down... breath niiiiice and slow...

Here, have a beer :) *gives DaRev a foamy brew*

I was saying it tongue and cheek because for a long time it was on a restricted list. Just like red M&Ms. I realize it has been taken off that list, but it will always have that rep. lol

I have never smoked in my life. I saw what it did to my father. When he was my age, he couldn't even walk up a flight of stairs without stopping. Even when he was in his prime, I would see him wake in the morning, coughing, blood vessels sticking out his head and neck, he was coughing so hard. Then he would light up his cigarette and slowly the coughing would subside. Of course, having emphysema didn't help. And he singed his lungs saving me from a fire in 1951. So he was in the hole from the beginning. He began smoking when he was 10.

I always said that if someone thought smoking was good, go lick an ashtray. ^_^

My mother also died of lung cancer a couple of years back. I share your sentiment.

And.... thas' why I said it was only ok to another smoker. LOL. *cringes* second hand smoke is bad enough, but second hand taste is just indescribable. I once had the unfortunate chance to grab the wrong pop bottle once. It was the bottle everyone was dropping their cigarettes into and it was half full of butts and a brown murky water. Kissing a smoker was actually worse than that.

Sorry 1banana and everyone else that may smoke in here. I don't mean to offend you. Just my experience and personal taste. I don't particularly enjoy it when people smoke, but it is your choice and I respect that.

"Splenda is the trade name for sucralose, a synthetic compound stumbled upon in 1976 by scientists in Britain seeking a new pesticide formulation. It is true that the Splenda molecule is comprised of sucrose (sugar) — except that three of the hydroxyl groups in the molecule have been replaced by three chlorine atoms."

...

"Observational evidence shows that there are side effects of Splenda, including skin rashes/flushing, panic-like agitation, dizziness and numbness, diarrhea, muscle aches, headaches, intestinal cramping, bladder issues, and stomach pain. These show up at one end of the spectrum — in the people who have an allergy or sensitivity to the sucralose molecule. But no one can say to what degree consuming Splenda affects the rest of us.

If this sounds familiar, it should: we went down the same path with aspartame, the main ingredient in Equal and NutraSweet. Almost all of the independent research into aspartame found dangerous side effects in rodents. The FDA chose not to take these findings into account when it approved aspartame for public use. Over the course of 15 years, those same side effects increasingly appeared in humans. Not in everyone, of course — but in those who were vulnerable to the chemical structure of aspartame."

Above quotes from:
Splenda Article

Just for the record, I couldn't drink soda pop made with saccharin, nor aspartame nor splenda. they each have given me headaches within five minutes of starting to drink them.

Must mean I am just a sugar-freak?

I think I will stay away from hot coffee as long as anyone from your wife's side of the family is around :D I don't want to wear it again.

I'll take the cracker jacks however!
Relax, in all reality, none of them has actually attempted to dump coffee on me, yet. However, yes. If you ever do get a chance to come visit, I'll stock up on cracker jacks. Do you play chess?
