  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Americans and Europeans are the same species :D
I had noticed.

Point is this. One population finds itself in one environment and evolves one way; another finds itself in a different environment and evolves a different way. And this is why we have chimpanzees and we have humans. And of course Orang-Utans, gorillas, gibbons and so on.

To put it another way, it's a bit of a daft question. Evolution expects diversification. It doesn't expect every population to evolve the same way and at the same speed.

BINGO, Proof of evolution,

Americans evolved from Europeans, and Americans are getting fatter every year right?

Because in our environment we have MC Donald’s on every corner, but in other places like Africa, there are no MC Donald’s, and things like Tigers to eat people.

Thus the evolutionary differences. How amazing.

If modern technological societies (like ours) evolved from stone age societies (even creationists agree on this one), then why are there still stone age societies around today (in New Guinea and the Amazon)?

If Irish Setters came from English Setters, why are there still English Setters?

Monkeys and apes are very successful in their ecological niches and habitats. Humans have adapted to occupy differnt niches. Do you spend much time hanging around in the tree?

Evolution often works when a sub population manages to exploit a new habitat - as our ancestors did when the jungles in Africa receded with the ice ages. The original population does not necessarily go extinct. It can stay relatively unchanged in its original habitat.

So how come we still have stupid people?
Search me. Perhaps people are born stupid, or perhaps they get stupid through reading Kent Hovind's material. You tell me.

Shouldn't EVOLUTION solve this problem for me, or am I forced to deal with them for the rest of my life?
There is no reproductive disadvantage to being stupid. Stupid people have just as large families as clever ones.

Anyone else smell troll here?

We should also point out that humans do not descend from any modern species of monkey or ape. Evolutionary theory states that humans and modern apes descended from a common ancestor. But yes, that common ancestor group was definitely ape-like.

By the way, this is one of the questions that make YEC's look the most foolish since it shows an absolute lack of knowledge about the first principals of evolution. How can you possibly say something is false (much less vehemently say so) if you know nothing about it?

That's what makes you cousins, after all. Sounds like he's got a good grasp of family relationships. At least put him on the Christmas card list. And consider that present.

BTW, he often has better morals than people:
10. MD Hauser, Morals, apes, and us. Discover 21: 50-55, Feb. 2000
