  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Once again I must say that I am amazed at how many different denominations there are, and the many different views on the same Bible, the same text, and the same word, in plain black and white (and sometimes red) there are. I think it's very simple. The bible says baptize in Jesus' name, not in the father, son, and holy ghost. It says this and not this. No offense. I don't want to get on anyone's bad side. I just think it's rather obvious.

Different baptisims Joe.

One is in water, in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost.

The other is by fire. . . called the baptisim in the Holy Ghost.

Matt 3:11, Mark 1:8, Acts 1:5, Acts 11:16,

This is not what the Catholic Church teaches, and is not what most Charismatic Catholics believe.  All Catholics are Baptised according to the trinitarian Baptism.  All Catholics are also given the Sacrament of Confirmation or Chrismation, the sealing of the Holy Spirit.  The Catholic Church does not teach that some of their members are Baptised by the Holy Spirit and not others.  It teaches that all Catholics receive the Holy Spirit at their Baptism, and are sealed with the Holy Spirit at Confirmation.  Charismatic Catholics are not Catholics who are then Baptised in the Holy Spirit, they are just Catholics who seek to obtain and use the gifts of the Holy Spirit.  If they believed they were being Baptised in the Holy Spirit, it would destroy the Sacramental theology of the Church, and it would imply that the rest of Catholics were deficient in their faith, which would not be good for one group of Catholics to say about another.

It’s sad that "denominations" have gotten such a bad wrap.

A quick search on the history of Denominational theory would reveal that prior to denominationalism sectarianism reigned supreme. Sectarians believed that their SECT ALONE was the true church. Denominationalists held that ALL different types or denominations of churches we equal a part of the one body of Christ.

I belong to the Community of the Crucified One. A Charismatic, Franciscan, non-denominational church. Non-denominational in that we do not hold to, or are we subject to any of the other established churches. In truth, we are more of a denomination is formation.

I go to an Anglican church which is really great, but I wouldn't label myself as an Anglican.

I've been to many different churches in my life as we have moved around a bit, and i've loved them all in their own ways. Baptist, Uniting, a bible based church that seperated from the uniting church (which can't remember the name of for the life of me), and now Anglican.

On the whole... a Christian!

Hi!! I've attended Assembly of God.
I've moved since then and I'm still searching for a church.

I don't know if this is where I should post this question here but what is the difference in non-denominational and interdenominational?

I've never heard of interdenominational before and the church I'm looking at says thats what they are and that theres people there from all different religious backgrounds. I'm just not sure of the meaning!!!!

Thanks for your help!!!!

Interdenominational meaning the church works with and/or in union with some "denomination." We have an interdenominational church here locally - which is affiliated with the Anglican Church.

Non-denominational, on the other hand, means that the church holds no affiliation or subordination to any denominational body.
