  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I'm interested to find out how many mods are TEs.
Do you as mods find it easier to enforce the rules for those who agree with you position? Do you enforce the rules when those you agree with break them?

As a Moderator I found that rule violations are rule violations for both postions, TE and YEC. Strangely, we get very little traffic of YEC zealots on here. As a matter of fact I got very few reports from this forum from either perspective. Usually, just a Mod hat warning would calm down heated debates and people are quick to respond to PMs and requests for edit.

The biggest complaint most people have on here is flamming. It rarely makes any difference whether or not it's TE or YEC, the rule violation is obvious. I had one poster who was going on the TE forum and trying to start debates. Something that straight forward is simple enough, you just tell them to stop it no matter who is doing it.

Grace and peace,
Mark
