Trust the government with what ?
Bit of a vague question actually.

Do I trust the Government to provide a proper military ? Yes
Do I trust the Government to spend my taxes wisely ? No

The government is quickly taking over various aspects of American life and livelihood including banks, car companies, energy, and health care. Do you trust the government?

The government is run by politicians. Politicians are owned by corporations and big money donors. So I don't trust any politician to actually have the average citizens(therefore the greater good) best interest at heart.

I think the VAST majority of the "sky is falling crowd" are being motivated by hate more than anything. It is fairly easy to see that conditions were basically the same and in many cases actually worse under Bush but since he was white, evangelical and not an intellectual then God was happy with America. Ask anyone in this group to back up their claims about Obama destroying American and the constitution and inevitably the first part of their reply will he "hes gunna..."

While I might not agree with everything he does I am willing to give him a try since I have yet to see anything he has proposed that will "destroy America" anymore than Bush did.

There is no such thing as the "average citizen" politicization at any level higher than county office. The lobbies supporting Israel are a great example, if you do not pledge support or even have the guts to question the millions we give Israel every year they will so flood your opponent with campaign funds that it will be close to impossible to win.

What's his skin color have to do with anything?

Bush's lack of public speaking ability doesn't make him stupid. Bush did some things to increase the governments power base too, and some things to shrink it. I don't like any effort to increase the government's power.

Not that it matters, but the guy I wrote in happens to have had black skin too, and he is the candidate I thought most qualified. Again, not that his skin color matters.

I believe what we're seeing is a direct correlation to what we've experienced for the last eight or so years. GM was going to go bankrupt, the financial industry was basically destroyed, insurance companies were allowed to write policy and make exceptions for every little thing they could conceivably call pre existing. And this all happened under Bush. Don't know if it started there, but it sure as heck exploded there.

Is what O doing right? I think some things he is, some he's not. Will he be better than Bush? Who knows. My opinion is that he's surrounded by advisers who have their own agenda, just like the Bush presidency. I think O is more in control over his administration simply because he is more intelligent than Bush was (I'm not saying B was an idiot, just that I think O took his higher education more seriously and learned from it).

But with people like Rahm and Ponder as close advisors, with Hillary looking to polish her star at any chance, with Reid and Pelosi both more interested in their own agenda than the President's, I don't think we'll see much positive change.

IF Obama were in charge of his own thoughts and had personal convictions of any kind, he would not need someone to tell him what to say via teleprompter. He is an empty suit, a puppet, and someone is pulling his strings, telling him what to say and do.

Much like Bush did for the past eight years? Who do you think was really in charge of policy during those years? Those years that conservatives kept their mouths shut and gave passive approval to the trainwreck simply because they didn't want "lib'ruls" to be elected? Guess what, it backfired.

Obama may have a teleprompter, but his speeches are his own. As for his personal convictions, they might not be the same as yours or mine, but he believes in them just as strongly. As I said, some things he's doing I agree with, some I don't.

I trust the government more than I trust the private sector when it comes to providing goods and services. Capitalism and greed ran the economy into a ditch.

Sure, there are a lot of problems, but I don't personally blame Obama or any other individual. These issues are bigger than one person.

I was happy with Bush until his last term. He was not following the principles that got him elected, that's for sure.

Obama's personal convictions are exactly what we've suspected all along...anti-American/pro-socialist.

It wasn't capitalism that ran the economy into the toilet. It was the people who benefited from not having regulatory controls to monitor their practices. Capitalism is still the best economic model, but it only works if the playing field is level.

Yes...and apparently they can be traced to Goldman Sachs:
