Police called on 12-year-old mowing grass which ends up getting him more business
A boy in Maple Heights is running his own business this summer cutting lawns and cleaning up yards.

Reginald Fields, 12, is the owner of Mr. Reggie's Lawn Cutting Service. With several helping hands from his cousins, brothers and sisters, they are up with the sun every day working the neighborhood.

That's what they were doing when someone called Maple Heights police on them.

"They said I was cutting their grass. I didn't know it!" Reggie said.

His customer, Lucille Holt, said she was confused when she saw police, but quickly learned the neighbors called to complain that the group cut a section of their property (about a foot where the two properties butt together) and were in their yard.

I would have simply said thank you.

I think it's been a fairly well known thing(nightmare) in suburbia, that occasionally you get one of those neighbors that make it their mission in life to make you pay for any mistake.

Also there's severely levels of interpretation to the saying of "mowing your neighbors lawn". That's definitely a no no and has nothing to do with this specific topic.

Marvin Gaye comes to mind if I were to muse on this in a musical way:

we don't need to escalate

only love can conquer hate

we've got to find a way to bring some lovin' here today

don't punish me with brutality.....

Folks can be so dang petty. Good for the little man. I love that he's 12 & he calls his business MR Reggie's Lawn Cutting Service.

Better outside working and earning money than inside vegging on electronics!!

Yup, a thanks or please be more careful next time would have been better. The kiddo is 12, what does he know of identifying property lines---until now of course!!

Black children are offering me a free service - better call the cops!

What exactly can black children do that doesn't get the cops called on them? Except smuggle weed, of course.

Were the neighbors, that called the cops, not black?
Black people are against black kids working?

These people are like the ISIS of the neighborhood, they are the worst form of human scum...

We had one of those types in my neighborhood, she was robbed in broad daylight. Someone with a U-haul truck came to her house and literally moved all the valuables: furniture, TV, Dining set, beds, etc out of the house.

We saw it but since these neighbors NEVER talked to us we had no idea what was going on. We actually just thought they were moving. So we didn't think nothing of it.

Then, later that evening she ran up and down the neighborhood asking us how we could let someone rob her?

We answered in 2 parts: #1, you hate us and never talk to us and so how would we know you weren't moving and #2, even if we knew you were being robbed we wouldn't have called the police because we collectively hate you as much as you hate us so ha ha ha...

I seriously have no idea what you are talking about here. He mowed the neighbors lawn, a part of it anywways, that completely qualifies and the title is applicable and warranted

Back to the OP,

I wish there was a policy/law/fine that would charge anyone for calling the cops for something stupid.

Should be around $150

this definitely qualifies

Yes, they should be fined.
especially since they called 9-1-1

now if they called the non emergency hotline that is one thing. But actually calling 9-1-1

that should 100% seriously be a fine. In fact, it should be triple the fine.

If that jerk was concerned about trespassing he should put up a fence.
