  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Pointless posts.

Well, the Garage sale was dismal. Lots of traffic, but no one wanted to buy anything. It was strange because even Adam's clothes didn't sell. He's a Big & Tall guy, so his clothes are usually the first to go. We always price to sell, so most of his shirts were 25 cents, and they were nice shirts. Weird.

Only one boy showed up and it was at the end while we were packing up. I am breathing a hugh sigh of relief (so is Speck). Kids usually don't bother me, and we haven't had problems in the past. Also, everything in my house is replaceable. I just know these particular boys don't seemed to be disciplined much.

How many days did you run the sale? Did you have lots of signs up? I found that most people go to Garage sales from Thursday thru Saturday. Flyers also work well if you hit a shopping mall or business district parking lot.

Around here, it's Wednesday and Saturday. There were lots signs, along with other houses in the neighborhood having sales. There was all kinds of traffic, actually. Just no one wanted to buy what we had this time. It happens. I have a feeling when it gets colder, we will have better luck.

Maybe everyone was buying "new" for school. I'm on the board for a charity that runs a thrift store. Sales are always slow this time of year. You might try having your sales on a Friday, just after the little darlings get back into school. That way the moms will have some free time.

I think it's a local ordinance that it has to be on Wednesday and Saturday. We can't do it on Wednesday because we all work and can't get off.

I think we will have better results either in October, or after the first of the year. I'm not too worried about it. I think if we had it open longer we would have done better, but my friends who were helping insisted on shutting it down at 10:00.

Hey, can y'all say a prayer for my husband? Nothing life or marriage threatening, but God knows the need and will hear. Thanks.

We have two or three inches of snow by Halloween! In January, it might be -40 degrees! We've already had one light freeze. But that's what we get for living at 6,000 + ft. That and elk bedding down in your front yard.
