Thank you sooooo much for your prayers - they were most definitely answered.

I'm laughing so hard, it's difficult to type. What they thought was a baby not breathing, was actually the little guy trying so hard to poop that he didn't think to breathe. Apparently in the helecoptor ride, he succeded in relieving himself, and by the time he got to Children's, he had his color back. Today, he was taken out of the incubator and off the heating pad, and he was just fine. He's just over 5 lbs and can control his body temperature, so he's being released tomorrow.

Praise God for having quite a sense of humor. Thank you again for your prayers.

(This is moved from the Semper Virgo thread since I have drifted off topic there.)

The part that scares me about being a pastor is dealing with the congregational politics.

What scares me about being a member is congregational politics!!!

I so HATE it I can't even begin to tell you. I am so upset with something going on at my church right now you can't imagine and one of the people in the THICK of this very destructive thing is my elder.

I am not talking the defense of confessional Lutheranism here...I am talking about deliberate opposition to our church workers and the promotion of a non-confessional, non-LCMS stance.

God will take care of the people He calls to the ministry but it is clear when we study the pastoral epistles that those He calls need to be prepared to suffer for the Gospel. Lets remember to keep His servants in our prayers.

It has to do with a theory for the sources of the Pentateuch (if memory serves). JEDP says (in summary), Moses didn't write it. NO JEDP says, "No, Moses did write the Pentateuch!"

Heh, heh. I found out that some of my coworkers have trouble reading me. That's okay. They can walk on eggshells.

I noticed that one kid in particular likes to ask me if I'm mad. I tell him, "oh, you'll know when I'm mad!" If I'm not grinning, people assume I'm unhappy. Go figure...

Johann Gerhard, Theologian

Johann Gerhard (1582–1637) was a great Lutheran theologian in the tradition of Martin Luther (1483–1546) and Martin Chemnitz (1522–86) and the most influential of the 17th-century dogmaticians. His monumental Loci Theologici (23 large volumes) is still considered by many to be a definitive statement of Lutheran orthodoxy. Gerhard was born in Quedlinburg, Germany. At the age of 15 he was stricken with a life-threatening illness. This experience, along with guidance from his pastor, Johann Arndt, marked a turning point in his life. He devoted the rest of his life to theology. He became a professor at the University of Jena and served many years as the Superintendent of Heldberg. Gerhard was a man of deep evangelical piety and love for Jesus. He wrote numerous books on exegesis, theology, devotional literature, history, and polemics. His sermons continue to be widely published and read.

I highly recommend the new translation of one of Gerhard's works called "Meditations on Divine Mercy".
