Doesn't this post belong in General Theoogy?theologia crucis said:Yep. 5-2. The Astros went down 1-2-3 in the ninth on about six pitches.
Yes they won. Well it's definite. A Sox/Cards series. I know I am from the Midwest and that the Cards are also, but I am an American League fan because of the TWINS (who btw defeated the Cards in 87 which was the last year the Cards went to the series.)Phoebe said:So, STL won?
Root for the Cardinals. We have the best fans. It's perfectly acceptable and sometimes required for work to stop so we can listen to or watch the game here. The City has allowed hotdog vendors on the streets again, so we can even get the full experience while only being a couple of blocks away from the stadium. If it's a noon game, it is acceptable to take long lunches to watch some of the game from one of many bars.theologia crucis said:Stupid Astros!
Why are you swinging on the first pitch?! Make him work for it! Haven't you read Ted Williams' "The Science of Hitting"???!!!
Dang it, I don't know who to root for in the WS. Teddy Ballgame is my baseball hero, but I don't like Massachussetts (or John Kerry). I prefer the AL to the NL (at least the history of the teams, NOT the DH!), but I do like the big 'ol "Thrivent" sign when they show the pitcher in St. Louis...
Oh well.
It usually is...clskinner said:Hmm, that was much funnier when it was still in my head.![]()
There's a TV commerical here with a ringing cell phone, and it seems to make so many people think their phone is ringing! Most people hate that commercial!Phoebe said:LOL at Feesha.
There's a radio commercial that has a ringing phone, and it sounds like it's really in my vehicle.
Well, I know it doesn't sound like mine and now it doesn't sound like my parent's either, but my mom used to have hers set on that ring, so it still makes us think somebody's is ringing!Phoebe said:It's probably the same one. I don't remember what it's for. It doesn't even have the same ring as my cell, but I still check! How stupid am I?

Are you still considering moving here?
It sounds like your heart is in the right place.theologia crucis said:I'm still torn... My wife and her office (since many are from StL originally) are rooting for the Redbirds. The Cards have had so many great players over the years, be it the Gashouse Gang from the 30's, Stan the Man, Bob Gibson, Ozzie, etc., so it's hard to root against them. And I like the big Thrivent sign (though I still think it's a stupid name; gotta love Lutherans, though!!!) that you can see when they show the pitcher warming up!
But my (and my dad's) all time baseball hero is the Splendid Splinter, and I love that the BoSox beat the damn Yankees after being down 3-0 in the ALCS. And I've been a Schilling fan for years, and he's got incredible guts going out there on a bad ankle (I love sports stories where injured guys go out and help their team win big games!).
So, I guess I'm hoping for a seven game series, and won't be upset with whoever wins it. It sounds like a lot of fun around baseball season up there!
And, it'll be a while (years) before we can move up to St. Louis now. We're gonna sell our house here (that's why I've been gone so much recently: working on the house; gonna try and paint it tomorrow), but stay in the area and get a bigger one.
I also don't want to take the only granddaughter away from the grandparents, and I feel I've got a call/vocation to finish some highway work that I've been working on around here (though my wife thinks if we go to StL I need to work on your highways!).
