My skin

My skin is white
But I don't bite
My ancestors were evil
But some were also civil
Malcolm X would spit on me
But why should he diss on me
When life isn't a dichotomy

Not that original or all the great but here it is

I'm a little despot short and stout
Here is the DMZ
Here is my shout
When I get all dressed up,
Hear me out
Don't tick me off
Or no one gets out

I'm a clever despot, yes it's true
Here's an example of what I can do
I can fire a nuke or maybe two
Just tick me off and you'll find out too

I don't have a lot of height

I used to write poetry when I was younger... I was quite serious about it too; I studied creative writing for an entire year and I had a manuscript that I tried to publish. People seemed interested in my work, and a couple of respected authors agreed to follow me up. Due to circumstances I didn't publish it, something that I'm kind of thankful for today. Becoming 15 years older does something to your taste in literature, haha...

Anyways, my feeble attempts at poetry were obviously nowhere near as good as @MehGuy's...

You always mocked my language
Well you don't know my baggage
Mind gutted
I have never strutted
Depression

took too much of this,
had too much of that,
but with you i never got enough

i smoked a lot of sky,
drank a lot of rain
anything to ease my pain
but now your touch is all it would take
and that's a shame 'cause i can never come home again

loving you was so easy

and now I live in this ocean of blue in the corner of a prison yard

The twilight, gray-robed, comes from the glowing mist
To pin a blue star in her rippling hair -

To beat its tired wings upon the narrow cage.
There is no more. The night swoops to the earth
Like a roving lark,
And the river undulates into the purple dusk,
