No but seriously: Pluto is a planet. Seriously.
What I could find out about it is that the story is a rehashing of a comment made a couple of years ago by a few NASA scientists that they want Pluto reinstated as a planet. In searching the NASA news releases, I could find none on the NASA site expressing any such desire. Regardless, NASA or anyone may refer to Pluto as a planet of they wish. The fact is, it is the "International Astronomical union" that decides such things. The problem is, if Pluto is reinstated as a planet by the IAU, then around a thousand other planetoids in our solar system also qualify as a planet as well. And why stop there, from the position of the observer, everything revolves around the earth; sun, moon, stars, planets, etc..Just fyi guys, I hear NASA wants to consider making Pluto a planet.
Oh, they want Pluto reinstated as a planet. What I could find out about it is that the story is a rehashing of a comment made a couple of years ago by a few NASA scientists that they want Pluto reinstated as a planet.
QV please: 9 Reasons Pluto is a Planet: Is Pluto's Dismissal as a Planet More Political than Factual?Poor Pluto!
I feel bad for Pluto!
If only he could speak
The things he could tell us
Oh, they want Pluto reinstated as a planet.
That's right!
It was a fact that Pluto was already a planet at one time, wasn't it?
Nothing is true.
Perhaps they need a better definition then?As RickG mentions, any definition that includes Pluto as a planet also includes thousands of other rocky objects orbiting the Sun.
Not when it comes to THE TRUTH of GODThis is true... ironically.
Nothing that comes from humans, at least, is true. Is it always some monstrosity of self-approved subjectivity.
Not when it comes to THE TRUTH of GOD
if we're lying, where in more trouble then anyone who offers false misleading confused information about temporal things
Ah!Nothing that comes from humans, at least, is true.
Nothing.
Is it always some monstrosity of self-approved subjectivity.
Now, is God Human? Is His Holy Spirit? Absolutely, the spirit which drives the mouth to speak - being the Holy Spirit - does NOT lie.
Humans, however, almost always lie - to themselves, to others and to God even. Nothing we say is ever true. Ever.
It is always some sort of monstrosity of self-approved subjectivity to feed our egos, and to maintain our superego (while we convince ourselves - with these lies - that we control our id.)
Light topics like the status of Pluto show the disjointed foundation of human intellect, thought and conclusions based on similar culture and learning. It shows a kernel of the psychological games we will play with ourselves to justify what we - at certain temporal proximity especially - deem to be true, or at least meritorious for our temporal purposes.
I.e. "today," Pluto may be a planet. Tomorrow it isnt. Yesterday, however, it was!
If it was truth - if it was unchanging in qualifiable and quantifiable substance - there would be a foundation.
That's why it's always a good idea to believe none of what you hear, and half of what you see - especially if it comes from a human.
Perhaps they need a better definition then?
Yes ... read post 33 in that thread as well.
